Re: Huge scheduling news coming
Disappointing but if it's true maybe it's the only school we could get to come for free! FCS teams want big $$$'s and FBS would rather have home games.
From what others have posted maybe they don't need the $$$.

They for sure don't need the money. They are a money machine. The question is do they want the money.Maddog1956 wrote:Disappointing but if it's true maybe it's the only school we could get to come for free! FCS teams want big $$$'s and FBS would rather have home games.

Re: Huge scheduling news coming
This shouldn't be a surprise. We have known for a couple weeks the other CUSA home and home would be away for 2014 and home for 2015. Many on here have been saying for a couple months we would play two FCS opponents at home.
Liberty will travel well and would love to build a relationship with App (many App fans don't want that) as they want to be FBS as well. From a $$$ perspective they are ready for FBS the problem is no one will touch them due to religious beliefs.
Home schedule for 2014: Cambell, Liberty, GA St., ULM, Idaho, and S. Alabama.
2015 - FCS, CUSA (I believe it will be MTSU), GSU, Troy, NMSU, ULL.
2016 - FCS, ODU, GA St., S. Alabama, Ark. State, New Sun Belt member (hopefully JMU) or Texas St.
2017 we get our first home BCS opponent - just a guess.

Re: Huge scheduling news coming
I agree with Saint. This is what we all have known would likely happen for awhile. The C-USA game in 2014 will be away and home for 2015. Works perfectly with having ODU at their place in 2015 and home for a game in 2016.
I would also much rather have 6 home games than having to play a 7th road game. The goal is to keep 6 home games a year and that will bring in plenty of money. This will be the one year that we have to deal with this issue. It is not a big deal and it will work itself out.

That is really, REALLY ****ty if our OOC home games are Campbell and Liberty.
Maybe we can talk about the creation science laboratory at the tailgate.

Re: Huge scheduling news coming
Gonzo what were you expecting for the first year of FBS. FBS series are scheduled at a minimum two years in advance.
This should be the only year in which we schedule two FCS opponents. Like I said in a different discussion, schedule the FCS that will buy the most tickets. If we do that and schedule it as the home opener, family day, or HC the crowds will be fine.

I guess you're right. I was just hoping we would land a game with an FBS team that had to fill a spot last minute. It happens.Saint3333 wrote:Gonzo what were you expecting for the first year of FBS. FBS series are scheduled at a minimum two years in advance.

Liberty is a disappointment too, even by FCS standards.

Agreeed, Growing pains....and the price of "Moving on up" It is only one time! Re: Huge scheduling news coming
I think the 2014 - 2015 CUSA opponent will be Western Kentucky. I don't care what their schedule looks like now, they will have to move some games as they drop SB teams and pick up CUSA teams.

I for one can't complain... It's another reason to come to Boone... Another reason to tailgate with the family and another reason to have fun with my stadium family...
Any day in Boone is a good day...

Better than Georgia Southern's 2014 schedule whose only home OOC game is Savannah State with only 5 total home games.

Re: Huge scheduling news coming
Neither. Wasn't the CUSA a road game game next year? I assume LU is the second FCS game we were expecting. I thought it would be a very weak FCS team like VMI or Mercer but Liberty should be a mildly entertaining game and should bring a good crowd.ASUMountaineer wrote:Is it possible that we lost Campbell? Re: Huge scheduling news coming
I'm very okay with that. We get to play a traditionally strong CUSA team while they are down. Plus, their stadium is nicknamed The Rock as well. We'll have to show them where the real "Rock" is!mtnjax wrote:Tommy Bowman just tweeted liberty and southern miss

Looks like Southern Miss plays at Alabama the week before they host us. Probably a good thing for us.

Yes, thought it was never stated that I saw. I was hoping it was a home game. Southern Miss should be a good trip. Maybe Favre will be hanging around.AppfaninCAALand wrote:Neither. Re: Huge scheduling news coming
A home & home with Southern Miss is very good news. They have a strong tradition, but we're catching them at a good time. As others have said I'm ok with 2 FCS teams next year considering the short time table, and knowing that our OOC schedule for the next 4 years is shaping up well. Now we just need to fix our line play and S&C so we can compete with these boys.
