I think we win this one. We look good to my eye. It will be interesting what our defense does. I think they hold USM to 21. We need to let our quarterback run and we will win. I think we held back some plays this week. (I HOPE!!!!!!!!) I could see this game coming down to a field goal to win.
ODU is the one I am worried about from the games I have watched. CCU looks awful. JMU will be tough. Georgia State is ok. Georgia Southern is ok. Marshall a little less than ok.

I've seen Coastal look bad over the last 5 years before we play them and they beat us more than we beat them over that time, but i agree they look awful at the moment.

I agree that we seemed to hold back this past weekend, and I also think we tried some things we wouldn’t normally do due to the opponent (the oft mentioned fade in the end zone). This past weekend (I hope) was seen as a tune up or pre season game. It almost bit us due to execution lapses, but we won. I’m telling myself this until proven otherwise.

The next two games will tell us a lot about what App's got this year.
I figure
- if we lose to So. Miss and Boise, we've got a full rebuild going on, and we have to trust the process and hope for bowl eligibility.
- if we split So. Miss and Boise, win either one, we've got a good team that could make some noise this season and really set expectations high for next season.
- if we beat both So. Miss and Boise, we're all the way back. You won't be able to tell us nuthin'. We win both these games and we're looking at 7-0 to start the season with ODU and JMU being the major roadblocks to a conference championship appearance.

This one will be telling. But Boise right now seems like a very uphill battle.

Based on a couple of factors, I am cautiously optimistic about all of our remaining games. The defense is playing well. DLo and the coaches know how to identify the weak links in the oppositions defense. Not saying that we will win every game but I think we will be competitive.

Over the last 5 or so years I wonder what the win rate is for G5 v G5 when going cross country. These games are pretty not that frequent

Other than the team being prepared for an obvious onside attempt, I have faith in the staff to put together a gameplan each week to be competitive, I'm not as confident is this team's ability to execute after watching Saturday's miscues.

The D overall has been good. Hated giving up a lot of late down long yardages for 1st downs and that SC top ten TD. Offense worries me more though.

The offense is a work in progress. Saturdays seemed like a good day to have a bad day. The offense moved the ball at will when working. But turnovers, drops and penalties will certainly kill drives. Let see which group comes out on Saturday.

I would imagine the home team has the advantage in the win column. The real question is how does that trip affect the outcome of the next game for the traveling team.

This is very interesting. Huff believes their swing passes should count as rushes and says teams can't blitz and go lateral on their offense at the same time.

I feel like we have the speed to mitigate the effectiveness of the swing pass.

It’s going to be interesting to see how they respond this weekend. Can’t dwell on the mistakes, just learn and execute. This weekends game will say a lot about staff and players as a whole.

My take is that by the end of the next 10 games, we should know what is what.

More than mitigate, blow it up. Intercept, force fumbles and incompletions. This is why you play a 4-2-5, to face offenses like Southern Miss is running. D-Tackles are going to have to anchor down to let linebackers and safeties flow to the ball.

At one point we had never won a game plyed west of the Mississippi River. Is this still the case?

Watching this stream and the post-game interview, really encouraging to see more media outlets are showing up.

Loggains is well-spoken, unafraid to own challenges/mistakes while giving credit where credit is due. Very pragmatic in his approach. He mentioned several times that they're coaching short memories and better execution, which makes a lot of sense considering the youth and lack of college game experience among our recruits.

And he's clearly bullish on Stroman...as if they see unrealized greatness in #8 and are committed to bringing it out.
