Re: ? to those who saw the game
I am just glad App showed up and was/were competitive. I think it is going to be hard to put a win total on this team. They may be VERY different by the end of the season. 7-4 might be enough to get in the playoffs and then who knows what could happen.
Coastal played Toledo tough and lost by 18 to Eastern Kentucky. EKU just beat Jax State by 30 yesterday, the same Jax State that went to the wire with UTC. Next game could be fun.
This is a crazy year and it is hard to tell what teams will show up each Saturday. However, I do feel a lot better about the season today then I did last Sunday morning.

Their offense is pathetic. After they got the lead it was almost like they were playing not to lose.

Re: ? to those who saw the game
As bad as UTC is on offense, they have a solid defense, particularly up front. Considering that we had back-ups on both edges, I think our OL play was commendable. We put up over 400 yards of offense and after two shaky opening possessions, moved the ball fairly consistently.
I thought Steven Miller ran tough all day. When we get Chisholm back, our running game should improve even more. Miller's long TD reception was quite impressive as well, he is a very versatile player.
Great to have Lott and Price back for the rest of the season. Lott had another strong game and Sean Price is an absolute monster. He gives our offense another dimension.

Re: ? to those who saw the game
You apparently know these players a lot better than I do. With that in mind, what where we doing with No. 77 Acey? He is listed in my program for the game with The Citadel as the backup center behind Fisher but he was in this game at either left tackle or guard?biggie wrote:2 OL out for head injury/suspension.
And Lott is 5, he would have started all other games except for the 2 game suspension.

Re: ? to those who saw the game
those who are on here and know - Alex Acey is my Man - I defended him all year last year and he is now my adopted son (Not really) - he walked on to APP last year and not even as a Guaranteed walkon - in 2 weeks he had beaten everyone else out for center and started the VT game at center - he went on to start every game at center the entire season - Graham Fisher was also recruited as a center and played some guard last year - in preseason this year Acey was hurt and was not involved in active practice for much of the time - Fisher was handling all the center duties - when Alex was ready to come back the decision was made NOT to disrupt the timing between JJ and Fisher so they moved Acey to the G position - Satterfield has said the Acey is one of the smartest offensive linemen he has seen - That is the story as to why he is playing guard -midlandchip wrote:You apparently know these players a lot better than I do. Re: ? to those who saw the game
Speaking of nice wins, congrats on the Chips beating Iowa. I watched that game this weekend, and it was crazy. The MAC showed up this weekend.midlandchip wrote:I watched the game on MocsVision and listened to David Jackson's radio broadcast some of the time and the Mocs' broadcast the rest of the time. The Chattanooga broadcasters said the Mocs were well aware of the success The Citadel had with the option run and were wondering why the Mocs did not try that play. They apparently have it in their playbook. I thought the game was played pretty even in the first half. In the third quarter it looked like both teams wanted to be someplace else. App State came alive in the fourth quarter and pulled away. I also noted the number of changes in players, especially in the offensive line. Don't know if it was due to injuries or coaches not being happy with the play of the OL last week. And number 5 was playing LCB in place of Krah and Walton. That is the side of defense that The Citidal went around over and over again with the option run.
It was a nice win for ASU. Now I am hoping they can put last week behind them. There is still a lot of football to be played this season. And I also watched the end of the Toledo-Coastal Carolina game. Coastal Carolina loves to throw the ball. Toledo struggled in that one until the fourth quarter and then put the game away just as ASU did against Chattanooga.

Re: ? to those who saw the game
Another question for those that were at the game/were listening to it. (I was watching a soundless feed at Angry Ales). What was the deal with the Huesman postgame interview? I olny heard the "we missed A THOUSAND tackles" part. Also, on AGS someone said he was involved in an altercation and the police were involved. What's the story?
As far as I can tell from this and last year, Huesman is an ass. He's a solid defensive schemer but that's about it. He's put together a terrible offense, ran off his star player with nepotism and now he's having temper tantrums on camera and blowing up so much the police have to intervene. With their propensity to choke and the fact that they still can't make it past a 6-5 season even with their best team in decades, I feel like UTC is one of the worst overall programs in the SoCon. I'll be more proud/confident to see us beat Coastal.

Re: ? to those who saw the game
From what was said on the Chatty message boards, some students were yelling at Huseman after the game, Huseman yelled back and the cops ran off the kids.
I haven't heards his post game comments yet, if anyone finds a link post it.

Yes, that was a big win. Now we just have to follow it up with another one this weekend against Northern Illinois who beat Kansas this past weekend. I am a big time fan of the MAC and since I graduated from CMU I follow them closely - season tickets, road games, etc.ASUMountaineer wrote:Speaking of nice wins, congrats on the Chips beating Iowa. But App State is also my adopted program and when the Chips are on the road I try to make it down to Boone for a game at least once a year. That has been working well for the past few years and I hope I can keep it up in the future.

Re: ? to those who saw the game
We made some good strides in the right direction, but still have a lot to learn before we can be a contender. The young guys (which is most of the team) just have to keep playing and learning. UTC is not very good so it's hard to tell where we stand. At this point Coastal is a better team than UTC so this week could tell us more.

Wow, the first couple of minutes were so depressing that I took an antidepressant. He's a beaten man.
