Re: GA St discussion
I was at the game, and here’s some things I noticed:
1. I take back everything I’ve ever said negatively about our fans- rushing the field, etc.- I’d rather have some hooligans acting foolish than <500 kids in the student section just there for free Chick Fil A.
2. That first 3 quarters was some of the best App football I’ve seen in a long time. App is getting better week over week. I love to see it.
3. App’s in-stadium sound/entertainment team could learn from GSU. They did a great job balancing canned music and the band. Everything could be heard clearly but wasn’t too loud.
4. Someday, someone is going to take over GSU football and basketball and keep all the talent in the greater ATL area at home and absolutely dominate… but not today! GO APP!!
5. I left at the beginning of the 4th, so that’s why they gave up those TDs.

Thanks for sharing that. We’ll all rest easy tonight, now that we know what led to the 4th quarter’s unpleasantness.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sat Oct 11, 2025 8:50 pmI was at the game, and here’s some things I noticed:

Hasn’t even flashed once. I’m not sure he develops to anything more than a backup.
Hopefully we keep Kohl and purchase another backup.

Re: GA St discussion
We're running a lot more preseason motion than earlier in the season. Especially Dubinion. Hope he was just precautionary.
Glad Dowell is trusting the TEs more. Cummings reminds me of Coastal's TE Likely, who is in the NFL now.
Dowell said he wanted to establish the run but GSU stacked the box. WRs had their best game as a unit so far.
I'll be very disappointed if App isn't 5-2 this time next week. This is a big one for mental hurdle reasons.

Still impressed by eleven receivers catching a pass. Makes it hard on a defense. They can’t key in on three or four. Ands it shows out QB is going through reading the pattern. No drops today? Or were there? I can’t remember seeing any (looking at a screen).

Re: GA St discussion
He sure looks like it in an App uniform but interestingly enough he has 5 years between UK and Louisville and currently has more catches for more yards in 6 games at App then in the previous 5 years of P4 play. He had no stats for UK in 2020 and very limited in 2022 which seemed to be a redshirt (medical?) year. His best previous year was 2021 with 14 receptions for 195 yards and 3 tds at Kentucky. I am just looking at his stats and have no idea if he was buried on the depth chart but he is clearly having a breakout season with App. Has he improved that much? Did he just finally get a chance? Is the level of competition making the difference? I have no idea on any of these answers, but he certainly looks good in the black and gold and I am glad we have him.

Does GT get much from Atlanta?
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Currently, I count about 30 guys from the metro Atlanta area on GT’s roster. UGA has about 25.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 5:41 amDoes GT get much from Atlanta?
All of Georgia, but especially metro Atlanta is a hot bed of athletic talent. Ron Hunter proved GSU can compete at a high level in basketball if they lock down some of that in-state talent.

Hopefully we keep this kid. He was a 4* until he committed to App.

Can we give a true freshman more than 6 games into his freshman season before talking about “concern”. My goodness, it’s not like he was a 5 star recruit fellas.

My wife said we rolled yesterday due to the type of App. St. earrings she wore during the game. I told her..coaches and players have really no impact on the game. It's the apparel you wear during the game.Bootsy wrote: ↑Sat Oct 11, 2025 9:04 pmThanks for sharing that. Re: GA St discussion
I actually think Gillon has made significant progress since his first start. Hardly fair to evaluate him from that Boise game. he was thrown in unexpectedly and was getting no protection. yesterday, he didn't look lost. He had a couple of nice throws that got dropped. I think he's progressing just fine. Whether he becomes QB1 or not down the road is TBD but there's no reason to rule him out at this point.
The game overall was a great effort. Wish the D hadn't gone vanilla in Q4 but it was great seeing some new guys getting snaps. GO APPS!!! Bring on the beach chickens!!!

Could be good in basketball as only need a few players. Could be wrong..do not see it in my lifetime based upon current commitments by the student body. If no one attends as a student, how are they growing their panther club or whatever they call it ..and i am not referring to Cheetah III

Re: GA St discussion
Harrisburg probably has a better shot at having a competitive football program before Georgia State, which is still a very small chance.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 8:50 amNot as long as they are a commuter school.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 8:23 amWould his son have played there if his dad wasn’t coach?MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 6:02 amCurrently, I count about 30 guys from the metro Atlanta area on GT’s roster. Re: GA St discussion
Thats because GA has a lot of great hs football and they televise games every week. This is the primary announcers for those games so they are very in tune with the hs scene down there. These are actually pretty good announcers. The play by play guy, Matt Stewart has been around for years and Sam Crenshaw was a favorite sports anchor of mine when I had the misfortune of having to live down there.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 11, 2025 4:38 pmDrinking game- every reference to the player’s high school. Obviously this is lower level broadcasting but I have never heard this many high schools mentioned.
