Andrew Peacock

Unread post by appgrunt71 » Mon Nov 25, 2013 10:29 am

Can anyone tell us the medical status of Andrew Peacock? He was injuried in the 3rd quarter and evacuated by ambulance from the game.

According to Coach in his interview at the end of the game it was precautionary because of the helmet to helmet hit but he was released and was back at KBS just after the end of the game. There is even a twitter pic floating around showing him holding up the Jug.

I think you mean Andrew Peacock.

I believe he suffered a concussion, but he appeared to be doing well enough to celebrate in the locker room after the game.

Andrew was transported to Watauga Medical Center, examined for concussion-like symptoms, released in time to rejoin the team in the lockerroom for the post-game celebration. A good outcome to a very scary collision.

When was the last time the ambulance actually came onto the field? (or really down the track a little)... I can't remember the last time...

Great news. It was a very tense moment. His family was even admitted onto the field to be with him. It had us all on edge.

WCU QB no. 9 was on one knee with head bowed prior to going on field to check on Andrew.

I thought it was cool to see WCU coach Spier come out and check on him as well. I still dislike WCU, but that was a classy move.

Don't tell that to Daze, WM, Gonzo, or a couple other haters.

Spier immediately ran out, he was there almost as fast as our own coaching and training staff. I have said some nasty things about Spier in the past few days but it is mainly my extreme hatred toward WCU. His reaction to Peacock going down shows he still has some black and gold in his veins.

I was impressed with the WCU coaches' actions. I'm sure I saw Speir and Trey out there. I noticed Jamal was there the whole time standing by Peacock and with his parents and comforting his mom. It's so awesome to see that.

I don't think so. Not the way he ran out there. He literally was one of the first out. This was a kid he knew so it was more personal. I did not see Trey out there but again he would have worked directly with Andrew so I am sure was out there as well.

Seeing Andrew down like that was scary. I almost had to take down the idiot behind me who kept yelling for him to get up because he wasn't hurt that bad (advanced chemical augmentation makes some people just plain stupid).

There were several things about that agonizing wait that were good to see:
Our coaches and trainers jumping in quickly and decisively.
Spier and Elder on the field in something just under a heartbeat.
Logan Hallock gathering the App players for prayer.
Several WCU kids praying
Heads bowed in prayer throughout the stands
Several folks (coaches and players) gathered around Andrew's family as they endured the wait (been there, done that when I thought my son's neck had been broken in a soccer playoff game - it's a feeling beyond horrible)

At the end of the game, you may have noticed that every WCU player and coach stayed for the post-game prayer. Not many teams do that to that degree. That move and the actions of the WCU players and coaches while Andrew was down were classy moves that underscore the best side of collegiate competition.
If serving is beneath you, then leading is beyond you.

Given the subject, cheap shots and baiting is completely classless and out-of-touch.

I'm glad that the WCU coaches and players were genuinely concerned, and put Peacock's well-being above the game itself. It's a shame that you chose to not do the same.

Agreed. It seems like a somber thread in which to randomly call out posters you don't see eye-to-eye with. Even more so when you're reaching to the point it doesn't make any sense.
