Good win Apps, I am happy that WCU never got the taste of victory in Paulson Stadium

Re: Great way to end FCS!
I am not one of those ASU folks that gets off on running WCU down so their history is their history and ours is ours, it is just how it has came to be. As much is made about 27 of the last 29, history shows where ASU won every game played from 1932-1948 with Western getting their first win in '49 so the "domination factor" has always been there.
Speir is right. They need money. One can go look at their CC website and see that the goal for 2013-14 still comes under $1 million. The Yosef Club has been cranking out several million the last few years alone due to the fact that a) a better history of the field and b) an administration that actually knows, loves and understands the positive impact that a winning football program can bring to a university.
The folks at WCU have a long way to go but at least they have the administration in place that actually cares unlike their former school leaders. What the Cat fans need is patience and the ability to quit comparing themselves to us or any other school. Make your own history and support your team financially and you will see success. I hope certains bands of our fans will remember this provided next year isn't as good as we'd like since the competition will be much stronger. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

Re: Great way to end FCS!
I'm not an APP grad that being my preface to my question ---
Why is there so much hatred for WCU? - I mean, I could understand the anger/hatred Western could have for APP because they are looked down on and have been whopped on the football field for so long but I just don't understand the animosity some of you have - not saying it isn't warranted on some individual basis ---

I personally just hate their ugly colors and their stupid looking mascot
They're more of a little brother that you just like to pick on and make fun of than a hated rival like the Stink has become

Their fans did it for me. Everything they do is comparing themselves to App in some way. It should be flattering to know that they want, more than anything, to be App, but it's just annoying.WVAPPeer wrote:I'm not an APP grad that being my preface to my question ---

I actually prefer Stink fans to WCU fans.

It was not said in a bad light, just the reality of money and football costs especially for a program such as WCU that needs money. If anything it was about the state of WCU football as much as anything. Spier said something about money and DJ joked back about having Speir do something to help and "then join the Yosef Club" (as a way to get the money raised.)
Just an honest statement that was a bit surprising to hear only in that it was 100% honest with no spin, and no need to twist around - at least in my view.
either way, I wanted 70+ on them b/c
Well I am just not so sure about that We were 8-4 with them and 4-8 without them. Just sayin
a) they're Western
b) to show those coaches who went over there that we are MUCH better off without their ineptness in certain areas
c) they're Western

Wow! The only school we visited that I actually felt unsafe was GSU....and by far not by all of their guys....but honestly what happened last year with their fans coming over (wrestling their way into) into the "App" section and throwing drinks on parents was inexcusable.appst89 wrote:Their fans did it for me. That's another reason I won't go back down there. Maybe they need to go to Montana and learn from the best fans...

We won't go back to Ga Southern again - absolutely the worst I have experienced in 50+ years of going to football games ---

WV, they are like a jaded, jealous half-brother that resents your more successful life, but does absolutely nothing to change their own situation... but they still remember that way back in middle school, they were the starting quarterback for the scout team, and you were still trying to figure out the game... never mind you wound up getting a college scholarship and making it big, they still have that one time that they felt better than you.WVAPPeer wrote:I'm not an APP grad that being my preface to my question ---

I for one am glad that the series of games with these kind of teams has taken the big dirt nap.

The only time I was there I was on the side line and they were throwing things at us. On the way in just before entering the stadium one of the a$$holes tossed a drink at us. I am very sorry we have not gotten away from these animals.

Re: Georgia Southern
I went down there for the first time the season before last with a buddy of mine. We met up with ASUMike and his +1. The 4 of us walked through the GaSo alumni tailgate and met up with some GaSo fans (one if whom was an AGS poster) and I can honestly say I've never met a more cordial group of fans. We walked in the stadium, sat in the App section and made it all the way back to our cars without hearing or experiencing anything like what I've heard happened to other App fans at Paulson. I'm not sure if we were the exception or the rule, but my one Georgia Southern experience was awesome.
I wouldn't write it off just yet. Savannah is just too much fun.

Gonzo - you must have paid them. You got lucky then, because our experience in 2001 or 2002 was horrible. So bad I will never go back.

Re: Great way to end FCS!
Maybe the fact that we've won 7 out of the last 10 has given them a dose of humility and improved their behavior. I've been to Paulson and have no reservations about going back although I certainly don't discount the negative experiences others have had. That being said, nothing beats walking out of the stink with a win and I don't mind a little verbal abuse to be there when we do.AppState89 wrote:Gonzo - you must have paid them. Re: Great way to end FCS!
Things have changed quite a bit since then. My first trip to Statesboro was around that time and it was equally as bad. Ive been back several times since then and haven't really had any issues. There have been a few running their mouths (usually students), but nothing worse than I've seen from some of our own idiots. With it being our biggest rival and second closest conference game I plan on being there most years.AppState89 wrote:Gonzo - you must have paid them. I had never been to the WCU board before, and all I can say is wow. What an absolute train wreck! But I guess thats what happens when they have to deal with a bunch of "IGNORANT BOONE GOON TROLLS" like us.
