Block A
Block A Black
Vintage (Victory) Yosef
Love it.
Appalachian State University has announced changes to its library of athletics logos, effective December 1.
The biggest change is that due to its significant historical meaning and great response from students, alumni and fans since it was reintroduced as a temporary throwback logo in 2012, what has been known over the past year as the "Vintage Yosef" logo will be permanently introduced as an official secondary mark for Appalachian State athletics.
Going forward, the popular logo will be known as "Victory Yosef." The logo will be prominently featured on merchandise available at outlets throughout the region during the holiday season, including Appalachian State's University Bookstore and Sports Fanatic in the Boone Mall.
"Traditional logos with strong mascots are hot in the market right now and we are excited that Appalachian State has chosen to permanently introduce the Victory Yosef logo to its official logo library," said Lewis Hardy, president and CEO of Licensing Resource Group, Appalachian State's licensing management partner. "The Victory Yosef logo has stood the test of time and will remain very popular in the marketplace going forward."

Great news. R.I.P. Floating Head Yosef.

Also glad to see the former Yosef logo go, love the "vintage" Yosef look and keeping the block A.
No if we can just get back to the old black endzones with the word "Mountaineers"!

I wonder if we'll be changing the mascot costume, as the current one mirrors the old Yosef Head logo.

Thrilled to see the floating head Yosef retired. How do you pay an outside firm to design a logo that looks like half the other schools in the SoCon?

We need a REAL person dressed up in that classic style.

When I was in school the mascot was a "real mountaineer" that fired his gun, not some ROTC man.
(Not dogging the ROTC, just what do they have to do with firing our gun.)

I like the fisherman logo, but the victory yosef is old school and more in tune to what the school is trying to convey. There's a sale over at the main website's shopping store for the departing logo. Go Apps!

I would prefer the white block A for football.

Victory Yosef visited the Virgin Islands, now they are just called the Islands

Wise older men tell me to follow the money. Just in time for Christmas...hmm.
But, while my new Gorton's Polo will be worn til it falls apart, I am ecstatic. They
kept the pipe!

Just passed this logo change to someone who already has the license to make the ASU tags. I will let you know if he is willing to make these. He will have to fill out all the paperwork and get it approved by ASU.
I'll keep everyone updated and if all is approved (several months), I will have my hands on the tags to sell.

Amen on the black endzones. Like the new field but it really needs black endzones. It just looks funny without them. Can't get used to it.
Now for some old gold and a little "Giv'em Hell" from the BOD. And yes , I know that cadence is old but I still miss it.

My preference as well. Logos are a means to instant recognition, both conscious and subliminal. Thereby one has branding.
The white block A was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. That exposure is priceless. Not maximizing its use is a colossal waste in my opinion. I hope to see the white block A return to the helmets.

The BOD still uses the "Give Em Hell!!!" chant when they are marching. We sit on the State side at KBS and hear them coming off the field at halftime and when they are marching up to the stadium. Brings back good old memories from back in the day. Happy Thanksgiving!
I am glad we went back to block letters o the field and agree 100% on changing back to the Black end zones. Please bring them back.
We will need to keep a picture of the outgoing YOSEF head though...just so that we remember which brand of fish sticks to buy at the grocery store.
Give Em Hell!!

Great. Sadly, I don't get to Boone much these days. The last few times I was there they didn't use it.
