Re: Board Changes
I've been getting a 404 error since Monday on here. I got the header, but nothing else. I just got in for the first time just now, and couldn't see anything even this AM.

Re: Board Changes
A 404 error with only the header would mean the page wasn't found. Are you using a bookmark? The forum address did used to be yosefscabin.com/mountaineermessageboard and it is now yosefscabin.com/forum . Be sure any bookmarks you have are updated. That change was necessary to help with the speed improvements I hope most have seen over the last week.

You would thumbs down ALL my posts anyway. Which would cause me to do likewise which caused the administrators to take away the thumbs down in the first place. Sorry.ASUTodd wrote:Maybe I missed it.... but my "thumbs down" button is gone..... I see the "thumbs up" but not the old "thumbs down"..... I searched but did not find any postings about it being removed. How am I to give Jcline negative reviews if I can't "thumb down" him?

Good to know we are all adults here.
But with that said I gave you a thumbs up, for what you said was truthful.

Re: Board Changes
I noticed that my comments are time stamped with the central time zone. Is that in my settings?

Re: Board Changes
Just a quick question to the "creators"....
Is there anyway we can make the board "jump" faster? It seems that everytime I click on something it takes the board a minute to "size" itself. Being the impatient person I am it means that all of the sudden I'm clicking on people's names instead of the thread...

Re: Board Changes
You're talking about when you click on an unread post - it take you to the new webpage and it takes a second to 'jump' to the first unread post?
I'm afraid that isn't something that can be sped up much more. I don't think there's that much of a gap is there?

It's not that... I actually like that...Yosef wrote:You're talking about when you click on an unread post - it take you to the new webpage and it takes a second to 'jump' to the first unread post?

For some reason, on both my iPad and laptop I will click on the "MMB" button up top. I will load the screen and look normal... but then a second later it will "resize" the text/graphics causing the page to jump a little. It seems that it always does that right as I'm clicking on a message and I end up clicking on the name of the person that started the thread.

Re: Board Changes
Ok, here's a video screen shot of what I was talking about... It's a subtle "jump" that you can see right after the whole page has loaded. Any idea what that is??

Re: Board Changes
I tried replicating it on my machine. They only way I could replicate it was to change the text size of the board. This tells me that it's likely a user setting on the text size of the board. In the top right hand corner there is a search box. To the left of the box there is an A with arrows around it. Click that (there are 3 different sizes). Based on your "Jing" (never seen that - that's cool) I would recommend you hit the text size button twice and then try to reload the webpage and see if it jumps, as it looks like your user setting is bigger than the board setting. Play around with that and see if it fixes the issue by having the text the same size.
Let me know and if it doesn't - I'll certainly keep looking into it.

Re: Board Changes
I teach a lot of online classes... and I find Jing to be a pretty good tool when I'm trying to "show" a student something... I can certainly talk a lot faster than type! (BTW Jing is a free program)
I'll look into the settings to see what's going on with the "jump". It's not a BIG thing.. so no worries, just thought I'd show you what's going on with my MMB experience.
Thanks!

Re: Board Changes
This actually seems to be an error with the css and javascript. For some reason, the css is not being read until the page actually loads. Once the page loads, the css takes over, and the format is changed.
I have the same problem, but don't find it a huge deal since I usually open everything I want to read in new tabs any way. By the time I make it to the tabs, everything is rendered correctly.

Re: Board Changes
I think it's the user css though. Obviously the main css is loading for the page as it's properly rendered - it's just the text size that's not loading until the end right? I'm the first to admit you know more than I so if I can iron out where the issue is - I can at the very least do the research to get this resolved (if it can be resolved).AppStateCentral wrote:This actually seems to be an error with the css and javascript. Re: Board Changes
It appears it's this stylesheet that is loading slowly: style.php?id=2
Try moving that stylesheet to the top of the head section in the template. With phpbb for some reason "encrypting" their stylesheets, thats all I can really tell..

Re: Board Changes
The commericals have probably been there, just these don't have the sound muted, it is annoying today.
