Sun Belt Football Stadiums
I decided to take a look at the seating capacity for current & potential Belt members to see where we stand. 30K seems to be the magic number.

USA plays at Mobile's Ladd Pebbles Stadium, home of the Senior Bowl. Listed capacity per media guide is 33,471

Apologies if the number is in error, although the Wikipedia page gives 2 different numbers: 50K and 40K.

Re: Sun Belt Football Stadiums
Ladd Peebles did seat over 40K for football, prior to the recent renovations, which reduced capacity to the current number. I'm looking forward to visiting Ladd Peebles in 2015, even if the area is a little "rough around the edges". I've passed through Mobile, but never spent any time there...and it looks like I'll find enough things to my liking to have a pretty enjoyable 3-day weekend.SayYesToTheRock wrote:Apologies if the number is in error, although the Wikipedia page gives 2 different numbers: 50K and 40K.

Re: Sun Belt Football Stadiums
So App State has the smallest football stadium in the Sun Belt.
Missouri State has not become a member, nor do we know if they will.
And we found out this week that Idaho is just a temporary member
for 2 years, but SBC might give them 4 years if we renew.
Having the smallest football stadium normally hurts recruiting.
Hope setting overcomes that.

Well at this point I would think attendance more important than total number of seatsGoApps70 wrote:So App State has the smallest football stadium in the Sun Belt.

Re: Sun Belt Football Stadiums
Exactly, I'd be interested to see how that list looks if sorted by attendance figures. Our attendance figures are near the stadium capacities for all of those but USA.WVAPPeer wrote:Well at this point I would think attendance more important than total number of seatsGoApps70 wrote:So App State has the smallest football stadium in the Sun Belt.

Season tickets are under 10K. 24k seat stadium is enough until that number increases. Either that or we see an in erase in facility donations. Simple economics.

I have talked to several people who actually have season tickets but still prefer to still on the bank - most have smaller children ---TheMoody1 wrote:I look forward to the day that every fan that buys a ticket also gets a real seat.

Thousands sitting on grass, maybe not that simple. Plus to get big names to come to KBS need more real seats.

Fine for those that prefer it, but it would be better for everone that wants a real seat to have the option. I know I have seen people bust their rear ends trying to maneuver that hill on a wet day. I remember sitting on the hill many times back when I still had a little one, and I am glad it was an option, but I would hate to have to pay full price to sit there now.

Re: Sun Belt Football Stadiums
Georgia Southern always listed its stadium capacity at 18,000 when it actually only seated 14,000. I wonder how many grass seats are included in the new capacity number since most of the grass seating has been eliminated by the new endzone building. Never understood how they could include grass seating in official capacity when App did not.

I took my first trip to Paulson in 2012 for our game against the Eagles. If that place had 22k that day as reported, Kidd Brewer averages 40k.

Re: Sun Belt Football Stadiums
Temporary seating until we get season ticket to 50% of capacity. The money isn't there to do it the right way and I'm not interested in continuing down the path of a piecemeal stadium.Dmanuhone wrote:Saint3333 wrote:Season tickets are under 10K. 24k seat stadium is enough until that number increases. ASU would have been 3rd in home attendance behind Ark State: 24913, and ULL: 25976
Our SoCon brethren really hurt out overall standing as we would have be above only GA St. 26107, Texas St. 22459, ULM 25915,
Go APPS!

Re: Sun Belt Football Stadiums
Excellent point about Georgia. Take away that 90k from our away total and we avg about 13k on the road.

So in essence, our average home attendance would have tied for second in the Sun Belt, in a disappointing season in which the team had nothing to play for.
