I totally agree. In my opinion the last truly GREAT App State team was in 2009. If not for costly penalties and a dropped TD pass from Quick in the endzone at Montana, I believe we would've won championship #4. I never felt that way about the '10, '11, '12 and '13 teams. But I digress...

Who cares where we're ranked? Our schedule is set and it isn't changing. If our team is GOOD and they KNOW they're good, whatever is written in an ORLANDO newspaper shouldn't make an scintilla of difference with what happens on the field.

Winning cures everything and 4-8 has caused several ailments.
I think several ailments caused the 4-8; and unless those ailments are fixed and others avoided; another 4-8 isn't beyond belief at all.
I am looking for 6-6 but you are 100% correct. 4-8 is very possible as you say.

Just looking at their top 25 from last year I wouldn't give them too much credit. They ranked #2 Auburn at #41, #1 FS at #15, etc. I know no one can know everything but these are the teams that so much is known about and if they are that far off on them what can they know about the last 25 colleges.
Given how Auburn did the previous year, that's probably higher than many had them ranked.

FSU, not so much.

Just saying if they can't predict a SEC team coming in #2 instead of #41 they can't predict a #126 team from coming in #80 or maybe #50 (not likely). Just saying their number crunching has something lacking.

I am just glad we will finally be FBS. Even though it's FBS transitional for this year.
These polls are just ways to sell newspapers or get online hits. I would not rank us extremely high after overall poor football performance last year regardless of the reasons. There are always reasons, but it is what it is in the record books.

I was curious how our "126 ranking" (ya right), would be received on the UNCC board, and yes, as I thought, they not only took great pleasure in the 126, but it seem to bolster their confidence, they now cant wait to play us in 5 years, and that game will spell the end of App football and the beginning of the UNCC dynasty. Now, Ill give them credit, they are talking smack on their board, not ours, and that's perfectly fine, but after reading a few of their posts, Im really looking forward to playing them, and I hope we absolutely destroy them. I might have to make a special trip up to the mountain from South Florida just for that game.

I'll worry about UNCC in 2018, we've got a lot to take care of before I worry about that game.

I hope that game is the 3rd or 4th most anticipated game on our schedule that year, if not we're not where I expect us to be by then.

UNCC will still be a cupcake in 2018. Well just be hitting our stride. Just look at Georgia State.

Next year uncc will be rated. I doubt it will be as "high" as 126.

Charlotte will be the 129th FBS team. They will be ranked 129 next year, especially if they lose to another sub-D1 team.

Unless they are dramatically improved, UNCC will rank fairly low in the FCS rankings this year.

I dont see why some of you are getting so wound up over the ranking by 1 writer. Im just excited to see us in the conversation in FBS instead of getting no press in FCS.

If I'm Satt and staff I'm loving this article. I'd print off 1,000 copies and put them in every locker, all over the training rooms and meeting rooms all over the field house. Get that "us vs. the world" mentality going to put an instant chip on everyone's shoulders.

We went 4-8 last year playing against a clown schedule.

The ranking is justified.

I could be very wrong....but the MOST positive piece of this off-season....is the fact that we lost "0" assistant coaches....People are not going to stay with a sinking ship....and they have options....

I'd like to get some Vegas odds on finishing better than 126ish!

Agree, my understanding is a lot of our assistants had opportunities to leave but chose to stay, if they had the feeling the team was going to be really bad or if there was a real negative vibe concerning the program they would have been out the door. Standing by my prediction of 5 maybe 6 wins.

Only if your only predictor is last year W/L %.

I think there are many things going on last year that won't be in play this year.

A change in coaching staff (a bad one at that), left a lot of players confused. An injured QB maybe not playing as good as expected and having to go to the backup QB didn't help get things rolling.

From the first game I don't think we looked prepared, which I think help cause that 4-8 record last year. This year many of the distractions should be gone and hopefully we can come out of the gate ready for some football. Scott as potential and we attract good players. I wouldn't expect anyone predicting 128 teams would know all this, but the fact that they sooooo missed on Auburn makes me think it's more to sell papers than an actual prediction.

2013 was hopefully an aberration, and it's over. It is definitely a new day. My concern is that our confidence may take too hard of a hit coming out of the gate, at Ann Arbor. We sure don't need a start that reminds the team of '13. If we can take anything positive from it, and/or get quickly back on track in week 2, we will be alright. With that said, even a 4-8 in '14 will be a drastic improvement over last season.

If we can stay competitive with Michigan for a half I think we can mark it up as a moral victory. But UM is going to pull out all the stops to beat the living snot out of us from kickoff. I'm only realistically hoping for limited injuries.

Still expecting 2-7 wins.

True. I believe Satterfield said five assistants had opportunities to go elsewhere.
