Hey Everybody. I talked to some at the University this afternoon. It takes a few days for the numbers to be updated in the system and for it to show up under the fund number. It will also slow down a bit during the Christmas break with not a lot of people working and able to process any checks. I'm going to be getting updates a couple of times a week and will post them as I get them. Just know we're ahead of what the thermo is showing as I know of several non members that have donated and I'm hearing of others so just use that as the low end figure. Just keep those donations rolling in!!!

Sorry if this has already been suggested, but if this thread could be posted on the Cabin's Facebook page, people could like and share it and maybe more people would notice the initiative more than having to go to the website.

Re: 700 Club Facebook Question

Unread post by APPARJ » Fri Dec 12, 2014 10:57 pm

I apologize in advance if I'm missing something here... but I have a question.

Why is there not a direct link to the donation page on the Facebook post?

I'm a marketer by trade and one big "no-no" is making your prospect "work" to perform an action you're asking them to complete.

There is even a commenter on the FB post asking about what this is all about. If the goals were plainly spelled out and the link to the giving page listed, he wouldn't need to rummage (work) through the forums to find out what to do.

I also think it would be wise to post the exact goals of this effort and to also let people know that over 10% has been reached within 24 hours. It would make people feel like the contributions would make a significant dent in this mission.

Anyway, I think there could be some really effective messaging on FB since YC has over 1500 "Likes".

I'm willing to help with the messaging if needed.

RJ...any help you could provide to make this project succeed would be greatly appreciated. If there are any details you need or are unable to find, I'll do my best to get you the info.

Yosef Club technically goes through Appalachian Foundation correct? Then these Yosef Club donations earn points for parking/better seats/other incentives. Regular App Foundation academic donations don't really earn anything except maybe a sticker and a day parking pass I think (at the $1,000 Chancellor Level).

Are the S and C donations earning points for Yosef Club? I assume not given how this was all set up, but I was curious.

I received an email about 2014 Yosef Club donation updates today and it made me think to ask. I also received a twice in one week letter about donating to the academic side of App on Saturday. So it is all on my mind actually.

Also what is the deadline we are hoping to have on getting to the $16,000?

This fund raising campaign is open-ended at this point. Our hope was to reach our goal prior to winter workouts so Coach Mike would have the entire off-season to utilize the new equipment. Spring semester starts back on January 12th so getting all the money in by then would be ideal. That would basically make this a month long drive. However, we know this is a difficult time of year for most folks and their money so we didn't want to set a deadline.

At this point there are no other perks (Yosef points, stickers etc.) except the pride you feel when supporting our athletic programs. This is a collective effort where every little bit helps. Everyone buys in!!!

I have so few Yosef Club points it does not matter one way or the other as far as perks, but I was curious, so thanks for the info and confirmation.

For me this is most likely going to be a 2015 donation but maybe before 12 January. Maybe I can be the one that puts us over the top with a small donation in early January. That would mean this is fully funded.
