Absolutely. If having new cars is your thing, go for it. Just don't tell yourself you're saving money ;)
Not at all and not trying to. Again, factored into the cost of living.

I bought a 2014 320i last year. My suggestion is this. Make sure you talk to as many local dealers as you can. I got a really good deal on mine, but only because I put two dealers up against each other. Its a great car, but watch out for the options.. thats where they get ya.

I went with Crown BMW in Greensboro. They offered me the best price for the car.

Leasing makes lots of sense for lots of people. If you aren't one of them you are never going to understand and not everyone wants a 4 year old car. I leased a Jeep grand Cherokee a few years ago for my wife and we ended up buying it because the residual was considerably less than the market price. I know that doesn't happen often and not a good reason to lease but it does happen. That said, it is the only vehicle I have ever leased.

And now for the conclusion of the story:

I got two BMW dealerships to bid against each other all over email. I ended up getting one of them to make it the all wheel drive instead of the rear wheel drive but for the same cost. With a USAA discount, I walked out with only $254 down and $299/mo. The car is really fun to drive.

Thanks for everyone's input. I felt much more informed when I finally did meet with the dealer.

Maybe some of you will get to see the car in Moscow, ID this November!

Cheers and thanks MMB!

I won't make any judgments except to say that when I sold cars for a few months, we as salesmen and especially the managers, loved to sell leases much more than selling cars outright. Much better commission. We also loved to take trade-ins much more than total cash. Profits on both when the sales were made on the used cars. The used car salesmen made more money than did the predominately new car salesmen. The finance manager usually made more money than the salesmen or floor managers.

Enjoy the car but I hope you aren't planning on driving it to Moscow! About 4,000 roundtrip miles, LOL.

I'll be driving to Idaho from the other direction, Bigdaddyg. It'll be about 700 miles round trip for me.

700 miles that just got a lot more fun to drive...

Something tells me you are going to hit your 10k mile limit quicker than you think!
