Re: Official Howl No prediction thread
I make no prediction, but I thought it was very interesting reading their coach's comments about their conditioning. He said they have been in better shape in the 4th quarter than all of their opponents and that has allowed them to put close games away. I wonder if that will be the case tonight? I believe we have been better conditioned than all of our opponents as well. Another interesting wrinkle to observe tonight.

Re: Official Howl No prediction thread
Psychologically, this game worries me. I buy into the idea that A-State has had this one circled on their schedule since the offseason. Not that motivation should be an issue either way, but I'd bet they've got a couple new wrinkles they've been saving for us.
Physically and stylistically, though, I think this is a good matchup for us. This isn't a power running, vertical passing team, which is the kind that have given us some problems. They'll try to get the ball to their playmakers in space. I think our defense is built to stop teams like that. And on the other side, their defense doesn't really stop anybody; they just try to create enough turnovers to win a shootout. Don't think that's a good plan against App, either.

Interesting comment indeed. They did have the big fourth quarter comeback against USA. They also had a big 4Q against Georgia State, but one might attribute that to the fact that they shouldn't have been trailing them in the first place.appst89 wrote:I make no prediction, but I thought it was very interesting reading their coach's comments about their conditioning. Otherwise, they were down 7 to start the 4th vs. Missouri and couldn't pull that one out, and they were outscored by ULL and Idaho in the 4th, but had big enough leads that it didn't matter.
They may indeed be well-conditioned, but I'm not sure I see any particular trend in those fourth quarters.

Re: Official Howl No prediction thread
I don't like this one. Similar teams . . . one who has won consistently at this level and one who is having a special season and very solid in many areas. Too many injuries on our O-line, it seems like we are one injury away from a real crisis. Not sure we will be able to keep up with them scoring wise tonight, the defense is going to have to contain the edges and tackle extremely well for us to have a chance. If we can build a good lead early, while our O-Line is fresh, that would be great, but if its tight in the 3rd, I see some serious 3 and outs while they will be able to continue to move the ball.

Re: Official Howl No prediction thread
For context, A-State is allowing just under 32 ppg in Sun Belt games (and more than 400 ypg). Scoring only 20 on them at home would be a pretty poor offensive performance.AppOrange wrote:I don't like this one. Re: Official Howl No prediction thread
If our O-Line was where it was 4 weeks ago, I think we score a lot more and control the game and win by 2 scores. I'm just not sure if we are going to be able to make the holes and protect TL like we had done. I love being wrong!EastHallApp wrote:For context, A-State is allowing just under 32 ppg in Sun Belt games (and more than 400 ypg). The wolfies, without question, have played a tougher schedule. I just dunno... Did the Apps peak too soon? We're gonna find out in about seven hours.

I did the same two weeks ago to a similar post. Hope it works again.

I am nervous about this one. I think the team was overlooking Troy for A State. Heading up the mountain now. Go APP!
