I don't understand how we have such a tough schedule when we have played 7 teams with below .500 records. Of course we did play the AP number 1 school in the nation.
Talking in conference not overall. We play the perceived top 3 in Ga Southern, A State, and ULL. Those folks don't all play each other. And for the record, I believe it's 6 sub .500 teams.
Not just the perceived top 3. We actually play the top 6 in the standings and all SBC bowl eligible teams. No one else in conference can say that.

At end of regular season, still possible we play 6 bowl eligible schools - conf and ooc.

I'm talking in the conference and how GASO has yet to play stAte or ULL since we joined whereas we've had to take on both in both seasons.

First does this imply we are not in the top 3 ?
Second If we can't beat every team in the conference we don't deserve to be conference champs. It is never going to be "fair" until we have a conference championship game. Until then I want the toughest in conference schedule we can get. We somehow have to make up for the miniature cupcakes we played this year.

Arkansas State doesn't have to beat every team in the conference - do they not get to be conference champs either?

Again, give us the toughest schedule, that's fine. Just let A-State, ULL and Southern all play each other too.

I want us to play the best teams in the Sun Belt. If we want to be the best then we want to beat the best. The Sun Belt is not that strong top to bottom so if we want to be relevant nationally in FBS we need the SoS. We know we can beat the bottom feeders so that doesn't mean anything to us. The next step is for us to start building our OOC SoS while maintaining a reasonable home schedule. Playing NMSU and Tex St does nothing for us except padding our stats. I want us to start really building a real FBS program that steps up when we play real teams.

I want us to be compared against the BEST G5 and top P5 teams, I am not nearly as interested in other SB since they have historically not been considered to be among that peer group.

Our best bet is for the Sun Belt to improve from the bottom up. Most especially the bottom.

Not implying anything. Just adding to/furthering HappApp's point. I do like the togher schedule, but when no one else plays a tough schedule, it makes our margin of error smaller. stAte played NMSU and Texas State this year to our GaSo and Troy. I know its how the scheudle unfolds, but it stinks.

In the world of the access bowl, only the conference championship matters.

I just want to see if stAte can beat Georgia Southern. stAte's the perennial powerhouse of the conference and chances are GASO is going to be one as well and would be nice to see the top 3 teams (the second season in a row) all play each other.

I know you weren't. I was just messing with you on the top 3

In reality the only game that would have made any difference (IMO) would be stAte v Stink. Other than that, based on the relative crappiness of the conference no other matchups really mattered. stAte got us on a night when we were probably just a little bit worn down and dinged up. For this year they are the top dog and we are second. I see us taking first next year with the winner of stAte and Stink getting second.
