Re: New video board
I'm with Moose on this. The cries about the KBS track have been heard in all the right places. Beyond that, I'll respond to nothing else with just this one exception. Bigdaddyg inquired above about the old WHS facility. Here's an old, with emphasis on old, aerial image of the site that the university is working to acquire. Beyond posting this, I'm just gonna sit back and wait to see what decisions get made by TPTB.

A track around a soccer field looks so high-schoolish, AND it would kill our soccer recruiting, I am sure.AppStateMtneer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 12:04 pmThose two (soccer and track) should be on the same plot of land

Re: New video board
The Old WHS facility is almost ready-made. I say "almost" because the track is six lanes and for college, you want eight lanes. It'll have to be redone anyway as it's been "returning to the earth" for seven years now. ASU might as well buy a surplus in weed eater.

Yes, that is old. The school building is long gone. Which is for the best, as I'm sure it was built just before we discovered asbestos is not something we want to build things with.asu66 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 6:37 pmI'm with Moose on this. You can't put a soccer field inside the diameter of a track. You've got a better chance of putting the track around the softball field...zero!

Re: New video board
Just take the track out with stands; put the student section on top of the field. Opponets could be rattled and our team feel the "vibe". And I am a 30 year state employee and tired of waiting for change that cost twice as much when the trigger is finally pulled. Change now to save in the future. Charge more to the YOSEF club to seat in the current student section. I am yosef club member................

Yep. The building still stood after WHS moved and homeless people used it. One day, a portion of it was set on fire and afterward, the county decided to bulldoze the building. It had asbestos for years when WHS was still there.

Right on, hapapp. It's being done more and more often in D-I. The image I posted earlier (mostly in jest with appinva), is from UCentArkansas. There are others out there to include UCF, Radford and a couple of dozen others.hapapp wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 7:33 pmhttp://www.niuhuskies.com/sports/2016/6 ... -html.aspxBoone Goon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 7:18 pmYou can't put a soccer field inside the diameter of a track. Looking nearby, Lenoir-Rhyne has a tremendously nice, new facility...

I am liking the shield on LR's field. A shield would look good with a Block A.

For now, im going to hold firm on my % chance...but a picture is worth a 1000 words. :-/
According to this NCAA page there are exceptions made for facilities older than 1995. I didn't read far enough to see what constitutes a 'facility' but I'm confident the WHS space won't qualify. With that said there are minimum deminsions for a DI soccer field 115'x70'. https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/file ... ram%20.pdf

Back to the video board. I guess we will find out how sturdy that thing is, IRMA is likely to move up from Florida right through the mountains next week.

Re: New video board
After looking at the records, A soccer field in the middle of our track would look high-schoolish and kill our Track recruiting. Let soccer win something before we spend more money on another field, they are on their 2nd since leaving KBS.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 6:47 pmA track around a soccer field looks so high-schoolish, AND it would kill our soccer recruiting, I am sure.AppStateMtneer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 12:04 pmThose two (soccer and track) should be on the same plot of land

Re: New video board
Please don't recruit anyone who complains about a soccer field in the middle of the track. In addition please don't recruit anyone who gets in a snit about a track around their football field. We should be recruiting players who have broken out of the middle school mentality. It is a privilege not given to many to play college sports. In my estimation it is a bigger privilege to play FOR not AT App State than a whole lot of places. If a track around your field or a field in the middle of your track is a deal buster than we lucked out. You didn't belong here.

Re: New video board
I agree 100% bcoach. I have no inkling about soccer and or track recruiting- how many actual scholarships do we give out for each? Are we genuinely in fierce recruiting wars for these two sports? I would think that most kids who run track would love a full ride to any school as there can't be that many available. Same goes for soccer. I can't fathom an 18 year old turning us down because of the track and or field location.bcoach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2017 1:21 pmPlease don't recruit anyone who complains about a soccer field in the middle of the track.
