They are annoying and I don’t know why some reporters have to do that. No need to give a long back story. If you can’t ask a question in less than 10 seconds then it’s more like a dissertation to me. I'm grateful for Big C (personal friend since 2000) and AJ for the time they put in each week to bring us news and discussion about App. They have great guests and I'd wager it takes 3-4 hours a week to schedule those guests, edit, and produce the pod outside of the couple hours we get to enjoy.
I agree AJ is long-winded with the lead in and questioning at times. I play it on 1.5 speed which helps.

Indeed. It is known he didn’t want us to move up and that is why he was asked to retire so I sometimes wonder what he is thinking when there? Wonder if he now sees this was right move and glad he stepped down? I wasn’t mad at him for feeling how he did because I figured he didn’t want the extra work but felt he had more in the rank. I have friends who agreed with him but they have all come around since. Would love to get his opinion on where we are and what he might have done different back then, if anything.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 12:38 pmGreensboro paper has an article from the Raleigh paper today 2 Sept about the game. As long as you are willing to eat humble pie and not run when the other team does make you eat your words then go right ahead. I was a smack talker as an athlete sometimes but only when I knew my team was going to win. This is not a game where either team should talk smack because both sides should have respect for each other. I might not like or pull for UNC but I respect the opponent.T-Dog wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 12:48 pmOn the BGP stuff. When I wrote the "roast" blogs, I would get hate from several App fans for "being classless" and "giving the other team bulletin board material" and stuff like that. Alex included. And for everyone one of y'all that decried me, several more loved it.
To y'all that get mad about crap-talkers and stuff like that, get over it. Talk crap before the game in good fun and shake hands afterward. And I'm saying that as someone who does not like Alex at all.

I wasn’t aware I was doing it. It wasn’t until I went back and listened to a tape that I caught myself and asked a colleague if he thought my questions were too long-winded. I was seeking affirmation and received swift correction.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 12:58 pmThey are annoying and I don’t know why some reporters have to do that. Re: UNC game discussion
I'll be 53 tomorrow. After my surgery and health scare last year I guess I am just happy to be alive.
This victory will make for a great birthday, and I will there with my oldest daughter and new son-in-law.
(And I have tickets for UB40 in Asheville on Sunday. Double win for the weekend.)

I believe that. I think when you are 18-25 you do it and don't realize it. I'm talking about experienced media who have been doing it for years and years on TV and in print. They should have already corrected it like you did. Short questions makes it much easier to transcribe for print.AppinVA wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 1:11 pmI wasn’t aware I was doing it. I just want to add this, because I heard of one instance of this happening, but any App fans selling tickets to UNC fans need to have their degrees revoked. Buncha sellouts.

I don't believe anything until I see him in pads or not tomorrow but that is what I always thought. When I posted what they said on 247 I was saying I'm skeptical. None of this matters until tomorrow because nobody really knows for sure unless Downs or Mack Brown come out and say it.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 2:20 pmPer ACCNetwork......Downs will be playing.....just a minor knee strain.

Re: UNC game discussion
I think you are correct about him not wanting the stress of FBS. If asked now I am sure he would be very complimentary of what we have done since he left and he deserves some credit for the coaches and traditions. I am glad he is not hanging around Charlotte now. He is home and has been for a few years now and that is a good thing.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 1:05 pmIndeed. He definitely set the culture and kudos to him for adjusting his offense for 2004 to set us up for the great 2005 season. I hope he is happy now for sure.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 3:33 pmI think you are correct about him not wanting the stress of FBS. Game day has finally arrived! Those of you lucky enough to be there BE LOUD! For those of us not, be loud where ever you are. Maybe we can channel intensity thru the airwaves!
Does anyone know who announcers will be today?

And as usual no confidence from GameDay crew. All 4 picking the Holes. Only Desmond called for a close game but also picked the other guys. Not much confidence from them on our QB. Our Mountaineers need to prove them wrong

That's because Granpa can actually stay awake to coach from Noon to 3:30.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 11:41 amInteresting stat. Mack Brown is 10-0 since coming to UNC this time with 12 noon start times.
2022- App State ???
2021 noon games- Duke 38-7 W, Wake Forest 58-55 W, and Wofford 34-14 W
2020 noon games- Syracuse 31-6 W, Virginia Tech 56-45 W, NC State 48-21 W, Duke 56-24 W, Wake Forest 59-53 W, and Western Carolina 49-9 W
2019 noon game- Temple bowl game- 55-13 W
7 of the 10 games were blowout wins. The 8th was 11 points. The only single digit wins were Wake Forest by 3 and 6.
