My wife and I attended every game starting in '99 and continuing for about 14 years until old-age caught us but I tell you this, if she and I could have made the trip and hobbled over to GameDay she would most definitely have a snarky sign for Herbie and a big black and yellow cupcake - She has never forgotten, she has been saying all week, "that 2007 team played their guts out that day and that season and won another National Championship and Herbie can't get a free pass on his cupcake comment" - There you go - straight from the 70+ section

Long held grudges, didn’t realize my mom posted on this board

I find it funny that we have so many fans that simply can't forgive a guy that made a flippant comment 15 years ago, AND apologized for that comment later that same day. I mean, talk about holding a grudge. The dude apologized and some on here act like he shot their mother. Get over it already and grow up and act like the adults you all are. I never was offended by the comment in the first place, it just showed that he was wrong and didn't know anything about our team. Pretty sure he realized that himself as the day progressed, hence the apology. See, that's what people do when they realize they made a mistake, they own it and apologize. Herbie did that, no need to rub his mistake in his face after he owned it and apologized for it.

The signs from the students I saw today were both funny and clever. Almost all were playing up the positives of App or poking fun at other schools like A&M. Keep in mind all these kids were barely out of diapers 15 years ago. They don't care about the comment. They're going to be awesome tomorrow

I am confidant in our fan base. We've always shown class, even when disrepected. Might be a sign or two, but I'm pretty sure we know what is happening now with the spotlight on us. Our administration sure does.

And I don't think it's an act. I think our fans are genuinely good people who love our town and our school, and love the fact that the nation is somehow pulling for our brand, even Aggies and some of the Heel fans.

People love an underdog, and people love a team that wins with class, without cheating, without multi-million dollar NIL budgets, and does so at the highest level. It's what college sports used to be all about, and with the rapidly changing landscape, I think other fans look at us and say "that's the way it should be."

I apologize for whatever harm my comment about Gameday signs may have caused. First and foremost let me say that I love AppState football and wouldn’t do anything to ruin the day for them. The fans look amazing and have really shown well this week.

Id like to add that y’all have proven we can beat a dead horse. I said 3 pages ago I was gonna let it go and here we are on page 12… I’ll try one more time to end this. Don’t worry, I’m NOT gonna make any signs to take out there because I don’t want to be the reason earth shook or any heads exploded.

As for the video of Kirk on campus today, what else is he gonna say in that moment? Like y’all have mentioned, he’s an entertainer and he’s promoting his product.

The fact that y’all think the cupcake comment alone is where my issue stems from is laughable. Kirk and Corso have actively spoken out against the G5 for years and have done it as recently as last year during Cincys run. Even with Cincy beating ND and Indiana on the road, Corso said Cincy didn’t belong in the playoff BECAUSE they’re a G5 program.

During the UCF undefeated years they said things like undefeated G5 teams should “take the high road” instead of banging on the table demanding respect as they were left outta the playoff.

Just this week they used a picture that was at least 3 or 4 years old of KBS with a track and no NEZ facility (which made us look like a nice high school stadium) during an interview with Coach Clark. It’s disrespectful.

I will put “this on Do Not Disturb” and will keep my opinions to myself with regard to this topic. However my personal grudge will continue until their attitude towards and disregard of G5 football changes. Good day to you all, see y’all tomorrow, GO APPS, BEAT TROY!
