This one also stings because AP numbers 20, 21, 22, and 25 all lost today. TAMU, #24, isn’t looking too hot either so the ranking was there for us.

If there is someone on this board who predicted we would go undefeated in conference play, please make yourself known - If most everyone would be honest I think most thought there was a pretty decent chance we would be 2-2 at this point -

Keep pumping sunshine. We will be a 7-5 team for the foreseeable future if nothing changes.

We blew a 28-3 lead at home against JMU.
I’m with you on the record part but let’s not pretend this wasn’t an absolute disaster.

Re: JMU Game Day Thread
My gf was talking to me when when App was up big in the second and asked me why I wasn’t excited. I told her that we had stolen 2 TDs with nothing to show on either side of the ball that it would continue. App Stole 14 points and still lost.
Another mediocre Dale Jones defense and another out-coached and out-played offense caused this.
Many of you are “happy to be here” fans, and that’s respectable. You’ve seen App rise from being a plucky FCS program playing in Conrad Stadium to what we are today. I get it. You went to App State when it was 7k students and unknown East of I77.
That isn’t the ceiling today
This was the first time they had been in the drivers seat for a New Years 6 and straight up lost it.
Cool! they beat UNC in a down year and then beat a non bowl eligible Gamecock team in 2019. Woo! But it at least broke the streak. This program has lived on its potential with nothing to show for it for a decade. That’s why gameday showed up. Shoulda-coulda-woulda at this point.
Moral of the story, do you want to support “the almost Apps” or support “we have more wins against south Alabama’s and Texas state” Apps?
You decide.

Re: JMU Game Day Thread
The problem is we all thought 2-2 with losses to the P5 teams, not to a FBS startup. JMU is better than we were when we made the transition by far though.
I expected 2 OOC losses and 2 SBC losses. I said 8-4 with a small chance at 9-3 to start.

I thought it was most likely record at this point although obviously I chose different games for wins and losses.

Ignore the rankings and just hope we can be the best Sun Belt team we can. That will take a lot of the sting away from this stuff. Yes, this for sure. But the personnel issues and lack of defense (outside of Texas AM) is got me feeling really uneasyMAD Doctor wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 6:40 pmSome halves you’re the hammer; some halves you’re the nail.
Lots of football left to play. Rest up, heal, and get ready for Marshall, Stink, and Coastal. We’ll need help to win the conference, but we’ve been here before.

Seen a few people say "fire Dale Jones". Those who want Dale Jones to be held accountable at DC don't realize that he is married to Tommy Sofield's daughter. He is also close friends with Shawn. I don't see Dale going anywhere.

Right. Truth is we all acknowledged that last week was fun, but if you weren't worried about needing a hail Mary to win that type of game.....

Sad reality. And he has a lot of pride, maybe too much to prevent him from accepting the truth....

Re: JMU Game Day Thread
1000% true here. I think we would have to give up 40+ per game and be a 5-7 type team because something would be done. I would love to be proven wrong on that but I am afraid my partial joke there is the truth for sure.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 7:12 pmSad reality. Re: JMU Game Day Thread
Clark needs to take himself seriously and not hire “friends”. Put up or shut up at this point. I’m 100% for some for sale signs in yards at this point. He hasn’t produced. A&M was the offense not the defense. He’s had UNC hang 50+, been saved by at Hail Mary and lost a 3 score lead to JMU. Why is he still employed?

It's not just this game. It's every game of recent memory outside of Texas AM.....

Re: JMU Game Day Thread
I’d suggest sleeping this off and reflecting in the AM. Sleep well App Nation, we are still Mountaineers and we will get better.
