I just finished watching Thor: Love and Thunder. Christian Bale is great as the antagonist. And that is about it. The rest of the movie was less than average. I get where they are going with the set ups for future movies, but this was just hard to stay interested in with how terrible the writing is.

Speaking of terrible writing, Rings of Power is just pathetic. The writing is about CW DC show level of bad. They are butchering the timelines that Tolkien created and have just totally gone off the rails at this point making up all sorts of stuff to try and tell their version of his world. I despise that this will be what many younger generations get to see as Tolkien lore and Amazon will use their billions to make it so. Thankfully they can never get rid of Tolkien's original work or they probably would.

Andor is a series that is growing on me a bit even though the main character is such a huge han solo rip off. Truly, read the Han Solo trilogy to get the really story behind the rebellion. It also tells the true ways that han and chewie met and their dealings with the hutts and others as well as why he was on tattooine to begin with. But the andor series is pretty good. It's interesting to see what these mortals are doing in the universe of demi God force users.
You cray cray. Rings of Power is awesome. And the part in Thor where he gave the kids his power was lit.
By calling him cray cray you might have summed up why you like Ring of Power. I kid I kid. However you are in the minority with your take. That show is getting roasted
Interesting, I’ve read the books and enjoy all the Easter Eggs and wondering if the stranger is Sauron or one of the blue wizards. Not sure if you’re aware, but Tolkien Estate did not allow use of Tolkiens other books, and only references from existing movies. So if it doesn’t follow the book timelines, it’s one Tolkien Estates
I’ve really enjoyed 2/3 of Rings of Power. But as soon as the Harfoots show up, I get my phone and check out. I don’t care about those goofy, moon faced, boring little weirdos. And they’re story line is so jarring when they switch to it. Like, here are two story lines about the fate of Middle Earth, the elves, and Numenor- oh now let’s spend 20 minutes watching these proto-hobbits goof around with a wizard guy for seemingly no reason. I haven’t watched this week’s episode. I hope that part get better.

Related- thoughts on House of the Dragon? To me, it seems like every episode is 50 minutes of boring, mostly pointless conversation, and then crazy stuff happens the last 10 minutes. I’m close to giving up to it because it just feels like cheap cliffhangers every episode.
You completely nailed my thoughts on GOT. My wife and I said the exact same thing. LOTS of pointless dialogue

We need to recruit size and speed. That, along with poor coaching, has bitten us in the butt against improving competition. Small in the trenches and slow in the secondary. “but we don’t have the budget, it’s too cold, blah blah blah”.
I wish someone had thought of that

I remember when in 2019, the defense gave up 41 points to UNCC and it was a calamity. I myself said Roof should be fired ASAP. The players even said Roof was trying to do some new defensive things that didn't work.

The next day, Drinkwitz moved Roof to the booth, made sure some defensive gameplan changes were made and refused to let the defensive coaches speak to the media that week (which I disagreed with). The App defense has had two games worse than that UNCC game in the last seven played and a general issue with any team that has a QB who can throw the ball decently. Not to mention a putrid third down defense.

I think there needs to be serious changes with the defensive staff ASAP.
This lukewarm take is being vilkified on here and by the old heads on twitter.

In my opinion a change in DC is just the start.
As has been mentioned on here before that is very difficult to do since he is dating the daughter of a booster that is so important that he stands on the sideline at every single game, both on the road and home. I literally saw her father standing on the sideline at least a dozen times on TV in this loss. Of course he has enough money if he really loves App he would pay him 150k to sit home and not be our DC but you know that won't happen. lol

You are throwing around a lot of speculations I’ll give you that
What is the speculation? It is a fact that Dale Jones is in a relationship with Tommy Sofield's daughter. Tommy is a big money booster who is on our sideline every single game, has direct access to Clark, Gillin, and anyone else he wants in our program. For those who want Dale Jones gone this is not as simple as just getting rid of Dale without expecting major blow back.
Does this booster want more L’s because it’s clearly coming. We look awful defensively, can’t stop a nose bleed. Keep him around but he doesn’t need to lead the defense.

I would suspect Gillin will let the season play out here so let's see what happens. If we fix the issues this month and have a good November then people will let this all go. If not and we go 6-6 or worse, then we could be looking at major changes. I know some say Shawn won't go no matter what after this year but I don't see how Shawn could keep his job if we don't make a bowl game. If we just lose one more then you can't be too mad because that is what some expected but 6-6 or worse is not something anyone thought could happen. This staff and locker room has a chance to turn things around and still win the conference. I just hope they don't blow this and lose out on a bowl game all together.

I see JMU and Beach Chickens as the Belt's next App State/Georgia Southern. Given their weak schedule, Im not sold on Coastal. I am sold on JMU. They patiently waited their turn, building resources and facilities and were more prepared that any other team that made the move up from FCS.

Indeed he is. You see him and Ricks both on there have their names on buildings. Tommy loves App 1000% and he is a good guy. I just worry that if Dale is a problem that he might do all he can to protect him. I remember Jerry Moore wanting his son Chris to be the head coach, which would have been a disaster. Tommy might overlook what is best and believe that Dale is not a problem at all. I hope his judgment is not clouded on this but I'm afraid it is. Tommy has a ton of power in Boone.

Gillian has said on Mountaineer Gameday that in order to progress we need to continue winning. He will not let this go on for long.

I am glad for them. I figured it would happen for JMU next week at the very least. They are 28th in the coaches poll.

He is 1000% right. We don't have the resources to buy our way to be relevant with big splash hires or naturally raise money if we lose. He won't let us get to a 3-4 win program. If we go 6-6 this year, based on things Gillin has said, I 100% believe he makes a change.

That is just one man's opinion. I don't think they make the AP Poll yet. They are not quite there in the coaches poll: https://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/p ... ches-poll/
The poll is out. They are 25th.

There's some stuff happening behind the scenes that we don't see. I'll leave it at that. Clark hasn't lost the locker room or anything, but he may be learning quickly he's too much of a players coach.

Noel was not going to play today. He's still not 100%.

Also, players are not executing on game day what is executed in game planning. Ultimately, that's on coaching but not entirely. Player leaders need to step up and make the rest realize what it takes. Its not just practice. It's living and breathing App State football. We have some guys that aren't doing that right now.
Like players(Chase Brice) drinking at Ale House after the JMU game??!!
Just stop.

You can question a lot of things, but Chase and his leadership and commitment ain’t one of them.

GO APPS!!

Good on JMU. That's one hell of an achievement five games into FBS. They've taken the SB East torch and are off running.

The what-could-have-beens with App teams over the last couple of years is huge. Rankings.. NY6.. continued exposure.. gone.

JMU can have the spotlight now and it’s fine with me. However, they might/will find out very soon how hard it is at the G5 level to maintain that success. Need not forget when we first made a splash in 2014 and went TO LaLa and went TO stAte and gave the Sunbelt heavyweights a loss. At our level the coaching staff gets poached quickly with success and the impressive thing is how you can fill those gaps in personnel AND roster to keep the steam engine rolling. I’m glad they’re in the Sunbelt and look forward to seeing how they maintain success. As for App and last night I hate we are calling a loss to TxSt a wake up call but the Sunbelt is indeed rising. App St has lost the chip on their shoulder and I think has fallen victim to being the darlings of the media for too many years. Need to get back that chip on the shoulder for both the coaching staff and roster.

I’m inclined to think Sofield is an asset to have and in the long run will help the team, coaches and administration make good decisions.

He’s probably seen it all….and had to deal with adversity we’ve never dreamed of.

As for JMU, I was very concerned when I saw their athletics budget… #1 in the Sunbelt by far. (We need 15 - 20 “Sofields” to help make up the difference.)
