Re: It's Burger Time - GW discussion
App and GW had two three common opponents last year. I don't buy the transitive property for sports but just a couple few data points.
App 42 Bob Morris 3
GW 48 Bob Morris 0
Marshall 28 App 21
Marshall 28 GW 7
CCU 35 App 28
CCU 31 GW 27
App 42 Bob Morris 3
GW 48 Bob Morris 0
Marshall 28 App 21
Marshall 28 GW 7
CCU 35 App 28
CCU 31 GW 27

Re: It's Burger Time - GW discussion
CCU won 31-27. So, if we played last year based on those numbers, using transitive property, we win 30-28. Means nothing, but an interesting math exercise.

I corrected my post. Multi-tasking- posting on Yosef's Cabin and attending a recruiting meeting. I hope I didn't hire the wrong candidate!

What the scores from last season tell me is that GW had a competitive team and I doubt that has changed -

To some on this board, they actually think it does..BeauFoster wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 7:43 amYou realize you just caused us to lose to GW with that attitude, right? Your words have a direct impact on the game, genius.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 6:58 amI do not think the players/coaches and care if folks on YC are looking one game at a time or 12 games ahead at a time. I do not think that impacted the outcome of any games last year or any in past..just going out on a limb here...![]()

Re: It's Burger Time - GW discussion
Could have just been the FBS schools looking past Gardner Webb the week of the game. Didn't watch a single second of their games last year, or follow, so purely speculation.
They also lost to Elon, badly at home to Mercer. Close games with Bryant and Campbell. Then of course the butt whooping they received to end the season against William & Mary. Without their starting QB, sure, but doubtful that makes up a 40 point difference.
Teams last year were able to score points on them, and teams that rush heavy had success on the ground.
I'd be a little more worried or skeptical of a closer game if their entire season last year was very impressive or they were even coming off a deep playoff run. That mixed with our uncertainty on the depth chart in some spots, and last year's not as stellar year, I'd definitely be nervous.
I don't think SC will allow them to look past Gardner Webb, even with UNC following on the schedule. I think after last season not making a bowl game and disappointment, the players are out to prove a point. I'll give GW a couple scores one of which comes on a trick play, busted coverage or just some long run, and since the offense is breaking in a new QB for App, points probably will be limited. 31-14 type score, but even with that I think statistically it will be a good game all things considered.

Their running back is better than Rasheen Ali? Frank Gore Jr? More than a few other guys?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 1:07 pmGW is going to be a good game to watch until our depth takes over. Their RB may be the best we see all year -- definitely top 5. He's the real deal and is getting a lot of eyes from the next level.
Tre Lamb has a ton of respect in the industry and the Bulldogs will be well coached.
Could be he may be Top 6 or so, but the best, no.

Re: It's Burger Time - GW discussion
People seem to fail to comprehend that Gardner-Webb played Liberty more than close, almost beat Coastal, should've beat Georgia Southern in 2021, and played Marshall very tough.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 8:22 pmPlease pont me in the direction where anybody said GW is a world beater... Unfortunately for you, you clearly possess a lot of the same characteristics, I know that burden too well. Hypocrisy is rampant from all sides in this thread.
Gwebb isn’t a world beater, you’ll see soon enough.
Their last four games against FBS opponents have not been blowouts and in a lot of ways its very similar to how App plays P5 teams.

Yah, I should have been clearer. I saw the update from KaRon so know he's out, though happy he'll be sticking around. If anyone has any updates on McKnight I'm interestedbiggie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 7:00 pmI was hoping you were still referring to White.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 4:17 pmMy bad.
