GWebbs RB wasn’t special.
Our pass defense is brutal, bad angles, a tackles, and not much pressure in backfield until the last third of the game when depth took over.
We found a QB and have weapons at RB and WR, Oline has a ways to go.
Overall C-. Teams improve the most game 1 to game 2.
Hmmm.. if 5.4 yards a carry against superior competition is nothing special, I hope all of our RBs have a nothing special type of season.
IMO 10 rushes for 50 yards when the defense is struggling to defend the pass isn’t special.
Gore Jr is special.

I bet Gaither has over 150 with Gore's line..
Gore is special. No denying that. Gaither had more broken tackles today than Gore will have against us though.
And more pancakes in pass pro. And better routes out of the backfield.

Base or not, we must tackle better.
Agreed.
Fun fact.. the savior on the defensive line for the recruits of the last 2-4 years barely saw the field (if at all) today while playing for Gardner Webb...
So, everybody that says the 2+ failure of recruiting classes we had (NOT all Drink -- in fact I would say Satt may be more at fault) not playing a role in last years record needs to really look in the mirror and realize one of our "top" recruits now can't even get playing time at an FCS school....
Isler was a “top” recruit?

According to the staff that primarily recruited him that isn't here any more....

32 yards receiving. I hope you’re right on the broken tackles, because that was pervasive on tackling everyone.
I’ve watched both play and we aren’t going to agree.

That's fair. Everybody is allowed their opinion.
But, again, if 5.4 yards a carry and 40 yards after contact in the receiving game is considered "nothing special," I hope our entire running back room has nothing special types of careers.

Some guys seem to be just waiting around for a misstep so that you can be proven right on your doomsday predictions. I don't know why you both watching the games.
Regarding the zero chance against UNC...in 2019 our offensive genius coach had us leading 14-0 against ETSU, a team that had just re-started its program. in game 2, we gave up 41 points to a terrible Charlotte team and held on to win a shoot out. In week 3, we beat UNC at their field.
Look, nobody is thrilled with the first half, but we are figuring some things out. It appears that Aguilar might be the man. My guess is we see both QBs a fair amount this year. The D shows definite improvement. Sure, they have things to improve and identifying those is the reason we play a decent FCS team in week 1. I don't know what's going to happen, but I'll be damned if I give up in the first half of game 1.
GO APPS!
But shawn clark has been a failure since he got here. This isnt just a reaction to the first half. Hes like 5-13 vs teams we are +/- 5pt favorite/underdog (he doesnt do well against teams at our level), 1st bowl loss in humiliating fashion. Lost 28-3 lead vs JMU, texas state, Hasnt recruited any good players in 3 years, massive losses for louisiana, took over an awesome team and 0 conference titles...I mean...are you an App fan? Are you just learning this?
Aren't you cute. Am I am App fan? Grow up, child.
I'm aware of what has happened over the past 3 seasons and it's been discussed ad nauseum. You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how asanine it is. You do know there are other teams in the conference who are practicing too, right?
1. Youre a keyboard warrior. PM me and ill meet you at the ECU game brother. Youre attitude will be remarkebly different.
2. Other teams practicing is irrelavant. We went 13 years (minus the 2 transition years where we were not allowed a postseason) where we went 5-0 in bowl games, 3 IAA titles, 11 double digit win seasons and 11 conference titles and pushing 3 top 10 teams to the limit all while other teams were practicing.
3. You have a losers mentality. Only accept excellence. This is something you should have learned in middle school ball. Tolerance of mediocrity is an excuse to lose and a sign of low testesterone. We are better than that at App State.
Guess I didn’t know that Andrew Tate was an alum. Who knew?

SC is getting Carolina isolated out in space and having their physical receivers over power them. Looks like we will need Stroman a lot next week

Dude doesn’t even know how many bowl games we won. Wouldn’t read into his opinion too much.

This thread has become a cesspool of negativity and personal attacks. What are we doing here??
Are we this spoiled that we think every player will just automatically be as good as their predecessor. Our new OT are not going to just be Hodges and hardy. If they were, they would have played last year. Our LBs and DL are not just going to be automatically on the level 2021 was.
Too many of you are living in the past and think we HAVE to blow everyone out. Gardner Webb is exactly who App was 20 years ago. They play hard and give their best shot to win. They play almost every FBS school hard and are going to win one soon.
Yes we can improve and get better. WE CAN, WE WILL. However, if you can’t see the HUGE improvement that we had against GW during that game, then you are blind.

Usually agree with you, but Noel isn’t the issue. Not saying he’s the best option, just saying he’s a great back and play calling and line play is the issue.

Better in the second half but still holes were missing in the running game against what should have been a lesser defense.
And our D was suspect until those turnovers.

I thought, as his first game, Burger did alright, as long as he progressed. I did not anticipate that Aguilar would show so well. He looked like a man where Burger looked like a Sophomore QB.

Sorry the play on words may be confusing here. I said GWebbs RB was “nothing special” to which news said he wished all of our RB live up to the moniker.
Noel is a great back and is clearly “special”. I wouldn’t trade him for any back outside of Gore Jr in our conference. He’s a rare mix of quickness and toughness. For the old heads, Ritchie Melchor like.
Sorry for the confusion.

Agree with the above. I can't believe a couple of (I assume) grown ass men who say that they are App fans attack each other on a stupid message board. Like most on here I enjoy debates and usually friendly banter. We are not at the level that apparently some delusional "fans" here think we are. There isn't some massive difference in a decent Sunbelt team and an esperienced pretty good FCS team. Back when we were legit good FCS we never got to play a program in App's current category. We played the big boys for the check and lower level FCS, HBCU's and teams like Lenoir Rhyne. In our best years we would have beaten or at least hung with a Sunbelt program.
