An away game at an fcs school or at neutral site is a money losing proposition for our program given the cost to travel to away sites. We do not get a payday out of it. I do not logically see how or why we would ever agree to do that... unless some extenuating circumstances that may present itself.HkyMtneer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 10:40 amOkay...you got me there. I was specifically speaking to a true home and home. One game in KBS and the return game played at a neutral site as an FCS school "home" game may work, depending on our take of the gate and such. I'd be open to an arrangement like that perhaps. Maybe versus ETSU at Bristol Motor Speedway if they ever decide to do a few more college games. I know it's been bounced around about bringing another back-to-back weekends college games to BMS and ETSU/APP would make good sense for one of those games. Assuming the other would again be UT and someone...WVU is the name I've heard.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 10:06 amI believe a NC A&T done right...fcs home and home could work. We play one game at Kidd Brewer and then one at a neutral site. i.e. Bank of America stadium. They would force our home sellout form their tickets purchased, which the powers that be like to see. (Keeps season ticket sells at a premium) We could split ticket sales to the Bank of America game and technically it would be their home game but we would sell more tickets. So, it would be like having 7 home games the year of the away game.

I’ve been hoping for a series with a good G5. Maybe I can get you to “thank” this post if it’s any of the following? Memphis, USF, Tulane, Boise, UTSA, Navy, UAB. There’s a couple MWC teams other than Boise I’d like to play, mainly in California, and I’m kinda skeptical Gillin would sign up for that travel. Colorado State would be cool too.CharlotteApp05 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:46 amJust for clarity, the game I know about.....I know from a different source than through APP and the contract is signed and my understanding is it is going to be announced very shortly. It will be week 1.
The WCU comment was completely separate, just saying that it was interesting Clark mentioned them in the PC.

This is a very old inside joke from the old message board days, the old heads all know it. The game was such a disaster that we don't acknowledge it happened.

I stand corrected. I thought App paid less than $200k but maybe I’m thinking of the FCS days. Wonder if the Can’ts would accept a $300k game from App???

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
If CLTApp is referencing Week 1, 2025 (08/31) then none of those teams are available. SMU (if they are still referred to as G5), Charlotte, and Tulsa are available. All of the big names out of the MWC are full. I intentionally chose not to look at MAC teams considering we already have Toledo for 2025.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 11:23 amI’ve been hoping for a series with a good G5. My best guess would be Charlotte in BofA. The Duke's Mayo Classic doesn't have a game scheduled yet for 2025.

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
Yeah if you’re saying they still have a week 1 opening in ‘25 then I would think that’s a pretty good guess. I guess there’s worse you can do, but with already having them scheduled ‘26-‘30 - can’t say that does too much for me. If we’re being honest, and maybe the admin feels differently, but I didn’t think the ECU game in BOA wasn’t all that well attended in totality. I can’t really imagine this would do any better.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 2:38 pmIf CLTApp is referencing Week 1, 2025 (08/31) then none of those teams are available. Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
Yeah those 3 had the openings. I was bummed going down your list seeing all were full. With the new playoff next year, it is more beneficial than ever to play top tier G5 teams. If it is Concord, perhaps they have a breakthrough 2024 and the matchup looks better. They also play UNC and UGA in 2025 so for their sakes, I hope they are better if they add us to the Non-Conf scheduleYosef10 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 3:24 pmYeah if you’re saying they still have a week 1 opening in ‘25 then I would think that’s a pretty good guess. Speaking of potential future MWC opponents....First off it's great playing Wyoming this year but it would be nice to get a future MWC team to play us at home....other than Wyoming I would want Boise State, Fresno State or SDSU..
KICK ASS!!!

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
Boise is open for an away game in 2026. They also do not have an east coast away game that year so maybe we could draw something up. They travel to GA So in 2024, Marshall in 2027 and ECU in 2028 so there is precedent from Boise's POV.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 3:46 pmSpeaking of potential future MWC opponents....First off it's great playing Wyoming this year but it would be nice to get a future MWC team to play us at home....other than Wyoming I would want Boise State, Fresno State or SDSU..

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
The same folks whining about UNC not scheduling us again seem to be the same putting down WCU.
I feel we should schedule first the NC FCS Public schools. We have 3 FCS teams NC Central, WCU, NC A&T.....4 if you count UNCC.(LOL) They need money like we need money. They should be high on our list.

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
I haven’t seen too much whining about playing WCU. I’ve seen (rightfully, imo) absolute resolve against playing them (or any other FCS) anywhere but in Boone. No FBS should ever travel to an FCS school. It makes no sense financially or competitively.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 5:16 pmThe same folks whining about UNC not scheduling us again seem to be the same putting down WCU.

WCU wants to come to Boone, get their ass whoopin and a check…good. They want us in Cullowhee…absolutely not.

If they ask nicely we'll even show their players the jug that hasn't been to Cullowhee since before some of them were even born.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 5:43 pmI haven’t seen too much whining about playing WCU. I believe I read a while back that a FBS team is prohibited from playing at a FCS school.

You are right. I made a mistake. No one was whining about WCU. My bad.
I hope we give them a paycheck if they want it. I am sure they could use it.
That was a bad post on my part. It is probably not my last.

I’ve never heard of an FBS team playing on the road at an FCS. I don’t want that either.

We don’t ever need to play WCU again if they don’t want to travel to Boone and accept our standard payment. That era much like the LR era is dead.

The only exception in the last couple decades was Army playing (and losing) at Yale for the 100th anniversary of the Yake Bowl.
Sun Belt rules forbid away games at FCS foes.

No interest in WCU or Charlotte - hope there’s more to come with our future schedules
