Clemson game thread and discussion

Well….. Clark need not throw shade on Dabo. I don’t care for Dabo but if he can beat us 250-0 then that is just life! No excuses. What I saw last night brings to mind two things in particular. What ever happened to pointing to “2024” as THE YEAR? And as of right now based on what I’ve seen over the past few years, we are closer to FCS caliber than we are to a ranked FBS team.

It's a one off game, Clemson will be top 5 by seasons end....calm down - they had them on two 3rd downs and DB's had mental breakdowns, you can't win the game in the 1st quarter but you sure as hell can lose it.

The more alarming thing and Ive harped on it for a few years now,

The September schedule the AD has put before #TEAMCLARK the last 3 Septembers '22 - '23' '24 has been first class unjust and unfair. The man has zero feel at being able to piece a schedule together in order to help make his program look better..

Ya"ll will dispute me but I am 110% correct on this...cupcakes need to be in place between P5 and rivalry's

Clemson has a top 5 defense... there is no pre season in college so it takes til week 3 to really settle in as a team in college football.

and to reference your Clemson weak schedule comment - that's my point - App State can't continue to sneak up on these P5's each year and pull off an upset - Dabo had them boys ready, App made 2 3rd down mistakes in 1st quarter and the snowball rolled at that point.

Dummy down the schedule and the playoff is a possibility in the future!!! but not until then, can't ask a App State team to play perfect for 12 games. Doug gives in to the Sofields and Ricks crew on playing the big boys and other decisions -- he can't think for himself to help elevate the program, it's stuck in the purgatory of FBS.... Other schools stepped up there game and all he did was add seats to create more debt.

Now onto a rival game and a SBC game 4 days after that, tough sleding ahead.

Only 3 App State teams since 1990 has finished the season with only 1 loss -- #TeamClark was apart of 2 out of the 3.

Tell us about Clemson’s offense.

Offense is legit, but that defense front will all play on Sunday's.

Look App State isn't as bad as that final score and Clemson not as good as that final score, they could play next Saturday and it probably would be a closer game. Don't jump off the Grandfather Mt just yet.

Agreeing with Denver makes me sick. But you're kind of saying Dabo (who had a point to make) needed to take it easy on us because we're that uncompetitive.

I disagree. We absolutely need style points. For the same reason Dabo ran up the score. And why you see these top P4 teams not letting up against FCS opponents anymore. Lots of 70+ score lines.

If we blast ECU and S.Bama/Liberty, we can suddenly chalk up the Clemson game as an aberration and be back in the “top G5 team” conversation entering conference play.

Up 21 and you think trick plays makes a coach a clown, what kind of person and sports fan are you -- 21 points in the first half is nothing. Both teams ran a flee flicker at some point.

It was obvious that Clemson saw the DB's of App biting on actions - they exposed the weakness in the secondary - that is called COACHING 101.

We don’t play 12 conference games. Notwithstanding, 6-6 overall might begat a coaching change depending on the financial situation. I tend to think it would.

We have 2 game under our belt. Is Clemson that good or are we that bad? Way too early to tell and guess what? Every school has influential deep pocket supporters. They ain’t drawing up the plays. I’m disappointed like all of you but the blame game can wait.

Been saying this for years, I’m fine with p4, but there’s about 15 teams we should stay away from. I know the “anytime anywhere crowd” won’t like it, but the extra 400k isn’t worth last night. With that said, last night was a combo of awful secondary play and no pass rush, and a P4 elite giving us the real deal intensity for more than a few possessions, we done sneaking up on people, that’s for sure. Play the system, adapt with it, like the game itself. Pile up the wins, the SB is good enough to get us in w an undefeated season.

Clemson averaged almost 10 yards per play last night. They completed 82% of there passes. I've never seen a good team get shredded like that. I would rather get beat by fifty than see the other team start running out of bounds because our defense is THAT pathetic.

After a long miserable drive home and a night to think about it, I don’t think gorilla is wrong per se. that was an embarrassment and I am absolutely embarrassed to be an App fan/ alum today. Absolutely pathetic performance across the board and IMO anything less than being conference champ's should mean changes at the top. I have sat and watched the mediocrity get worse for 4 years now and anyone who doesn’t see it is absolutely lying to themselves.
