Update:

UNC WR COACH Lonnie Galloway was interviewed.
South Carolina OC Dowell Loggains was interviewed.

Carry on.
Got a complete list of candidates that have interviewed?
I do not.

I would imagine there have been small talks in the last 72 hours with at least a dozen or agents of a dozen.

4 that I know of for sure -- always multiple it by 3. Neal Brown is probably less than 20% at this point, If SMU wins how much can Casey get by beating Clemson, 2million a year as OC, he probably stays at SMU.

So now this is where the search pivots and all I have been saying previously comes into play.

Just remember #TEAMCLARK beat Curt Cignetti, Jamey Chadwell, Jimbo Fisher, Billy Napier, 1 dropped extra point from beating Mack Brown.... just saying - the expectations for the new guy is through the roof!
I don't remember any goals stated as beating certain coaches. The goal is to win championships and compete for a CFP bid. Any self respecting potential coach would look at the top program in the conference and think "surely I can do better than 10th / 11th in the conference".

Galloway has ties here so you at least owe him an interview. He also checks some other boxes for a public institution when doing a job search.
Understand your points, but:

1) Strongly disagree that we "owe" him an interview. He was at App for three years almost 20 years ago. If we owe everyone an interview who's ever been on staff at App, we might wrap up the search in time for fall camp.

2) I'm not saying the guy's a bad coach. I don't know. But he's essentially a WR coach who also has the distinction of having spent the last few years as AHC at a program that just fired its head coach and has all but publicly said they need to hire a new coach who will change the culture so they aren't so soft.

3) To your second point, that one's more understandable, but could we not bring in someone who checks that same box and is also a legitimate candidate for the job?

I have been monitoring flights coming into KHKY. Outside of that I am not sure. Maybe I should start checking departures.

For the record, Clark never beat Napier, or Louisana at all. 0-4 vs. them during his tenure as HC.

Clark was 1-4 vs. Coastal, but it is true that the one win came over Chadwell, if that's something you want to count as a positive.

I get your point. Is that a requirement?
Not required but does make life easier. I'm a local government employee and work closely with our HR team. It's much different than the private sector.

OK, maybe not owe him, but it doesn't hurt the process to give him some time. Also, why go look for someone else to interview that your not going to hire if you have someone asking for an interview?

It’s been less than a week coming off a holiday. We didn’t do a national search and take our time last coach “search”.

No problem if our timeline stretches into next week imo

I wonder if it’s at the ballantyne hotel I should stroll down there tonight and over to OMB across the street and see who’s having drinks at the bar….

Oh man, we are reaching. I wouldn’t mind Loggains, but Gamecock fans weren’t originally happy with that hire at all. They might have changed their tune though after their successful year, but that’s more credit to the defense than the offense.
Serious question. What would you consider to not be a reach? I’m not saying that these would be my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice, but it might be what we are down to through interest, background checks or guys pulling their names from consideration. There are a lot of moving parts and a lot of what we know is based on speculation of what might have occurred.
Shawn Elliott is a better option than either of these two.
True but that doesn’t answer my question. No hire is going to be seen as a good one. There will always be naysayers and detractors that will look for a crack in the armor to pounce when things get bad. And that isn’t meant as a specific comment to any one person here. It’s just human nature.

There are just realistic and unrealistic expectations to the reality of what we are going to get.

I agree, but why did you state "Clark isn't getting fired" the week before the GS game?

Here is what I know. jmu went after a guy with a 44-21 record at his last job and they had a very good year considering the players they lost.
Indiana went 11-1 in a weak big 10 with a bunch of jmu players and a winning coach.
Liberty went after a guy who was 31-6 the last three years of his previous job.
What I hear from our fans is guys like Satterfield who is 25-25 and 8-16 at his last two jobs and Neal Brown who is 37-35 over the last 6 years and an nfl asst coach with no college experience. We need to go after a winner not a maybe.
If our fans have any say at all in hiring we are screwed. ( yes I know they don't... well maybe a couple)

I mean, is it crazy to think there might be at least one minority coach in America who would be both a plausible candidate and interested in the job?
