Fair point. To clarify he will be a hero in Charlotte if he wins 7 games. Not so in Boone. The expectations are vastly different. David Glenn actually did a nice job laying it out in a recent episode.

So no love week for GS I suppose.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 12:11 pmOk, let's look at some positives...
Has NFL connections
Has SEC connections
According to Stonewall this guy has a drive and something to prove
Great recruiter
Has guided and molded two SC QBs that stood out.
Appears to want his QBs to run. Joey could have really benefites from that mindset.
Another positive is he is coming from a program that understands grudge matches with in-state foes. He will see the need to beat in-state rivals and he will understand how big the GASouth game is.
So while this wasn't my first pick it's who we got. I'm done griping about and looking forward to what he can do. So with that.... Welcome to the Rock, Coach Loggains.

It seems that Loggains may wear the right headgear for some on this board, but the one thing he cannot do is mispronounce Appalachian, that is the one thing of which we can all agree...

Re: Dowell Loggains
Recruiting nowadays isn't like it used to be. You still have very good recruiters & such but the majority of the work is now determining who to recruit & how to utilize the NIL funds available to recruit new guys into the fold while still being able to retain the needed guys already in the fold.
Coaches watch film & ultimately decide who to recruit but the recruiting staff (Player Development group) plays a much bigger role now than it did even 5 years ago.
I'm not excited about Loggains, but we have no idea at the moment what kind of coach he is determined to be. Drinkwitz walked in & said he's the Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and QB coach.
Does the feeling change if Loggains walked in & said he plans to hire an OC & play caller? Does it change if he's determined to prove he can run a program, not just a team?
The job that Clark had is not the same job that Drink, Satt, or JM had. I hate it didn't work out for him. I hope DG hired Loggains because he believes he could navigate this new era of CFB.

Re: Dowell Loggains
In this case, Loggains has only ever known the 2021 NIL and Portal rules as a recruiter. He never recruited under the previous CFB setup, based on his coaching history, so there isn’t a “well this is how we used to do it” mindset there. I’m considering that a good thing for the future of recruiting here.DoesntEvenGoHere wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 1:33 pmRecruiting nowadays isn't like it used to be. Didn't I see where we signed a high school QB with some freaky good stats? Haven't looked back for name or researched it but maybe this would be a good fit st least that aspect of growing a young qb???

Re: Dowell Loggains
After a night to sleep on it, these are my thoughts and feelings.
Loggains’ resume isn’t eye popping. However, he’s got a lot of experience, even if it hasn’t been super successful. This seems like a little bit of a risky hire, which I honestly prefer than someone date who will just keep a mediocre status quo.
I THINK, and this is really just me spitballing, that Gillin and co. are looking at the CFB landscape and see that they need someone who can recruit and RETAIN talent. A former NFL guy might do better managing the portal, NIL, and player egos than a college guy. Also, someone who’s spent that much time in the NFL has made connections, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he brought in some impressive coordinators to help him.
We will just have to wait and see.

Re: Dowell Loggains
He might also know some NFL people who can help us evaluate talent and do a better job of getting guys to the next level. For those that say NFL talent does not matter it absolutely does. Players see a NFL pipeline at a position and it appeals to them.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 2:29 pmAfter a night to sleep on it, these are my thoughts and feelings.

Little Carolina? If you are making the comparison between USC and UNC then you have that completely backwards. At least in terms of football.

Re: Dowell Loggains
Not sure we should have an expectation that many, if any, transfer from USC to App. This is not a situation like Indiana where they took some of the best JMU players. That is G5 to Power conference. It does not necessarily work in the opposite direction en masse like JMU to Indiana..

I think the poster is serious. UNC holds the all time series lead in football. North Carolina leads 36–20–4.appfanjj wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 2:51 pmSeriously hope you are joking around,

Bro you can’t even try to compare the tar heels brand vs South Carolina. And I am a proud UNC hater.appfanjj wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 2:51 pmSeriously hope you are joking around,
North Carolina is better than South Carolina in every way, both the states and the schools.

The man's name is literally "DO WELL". How can we lose? Every opponent is on the highway to the danger zone if you ask me.

Tonight I’m gonna cut loose, footloose even. Possibly kick off my Sunday shoes.
