David Reaves may have been the best pure passer to come through the program. AE was the best QB . JM told me he was the best decision maker he ever coached or saw on the field. He was certainly a gifted athlete and his decision making put him in a different league.

Richie Williams should definitely be on the list somewhere.

Not sure I'd put him at the top of the list but surprised no one has mentioned Steve Brown yet. There was a time when he and Ric Beasley were pure magic. He was a bit of a fearless gunslinger and a little sloppy with the ball at times but man....Think it was 1978 or 79. I remember we used to score points, lots of points and still find ways to lose close games.
And not sure if AE was the best pure passer we ever had but he was easily the best QB.

3rd and long was a great situation for us with AE. You knew we were going to have a big play.

Steve Brown threw the ball out not the wishbone with 5 lineman .Rick Beasley was a heck of a target. I believe the offensive Co-;ordinator was HOF coach Fisher Deberry. I grew up not far from the stadium and people were giving away tickets then so I'd get to go but otherwise I had to listen to it on WATA 1450 in Boone. FM was just starting to take on.

The greatest QB, the toughest QB and the best college player I have ever seen is Armanti Edwards, but I would not argue about the ranking any of those listed here. They are all deserving, and it's quite subjective. I do agree that Cadet was the best athlete.

All interesting takes. What’s the criteria? Completion percentage, wins, eyeball? Some like to go with, could play in any era at any level. I like the eyeball test and for certain athletes I simply say, that dude is/was special. AE overall the best, lots of great athletes and a handful of really good passers.

Brownie was tough as nails. Over achieving , decent athleticism . And remains a close friend. Beasley had hands as good as anyone along with crisp routes and surprising speed. He was SoCon athlete of the year for football and track.

I look at it like this: how many players have there been in the sporting world where a big smile crosses your face anytime you watch the pull off amazing feats?

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you can’t help but shake your head and laugh when watching film of players like Jordan, Brady, Gretzky, Curry, Mahomes, etc. do their thing.

We’ve had some amazing QBs at App, but only one is worthy of inclusion in the above category…and we all know who it is.

The question was Best QB passer. IMO AE was best all around.

But since 1981 that I have been watching Brice and Aguilar far exceed all others based on arm strength AND accuracy, with the edge probably going to Aguilar. I did not see any of the aforementioned have to deal with the stronger defenses and tighter coverages that we have experienced in FBS era. It’s much easier to throw passes when the defenses and coverage windows are looser. All those
Other guys in last 45 yrs did not have to deal with those types of defenses.

I wish you could have conveyed that to our recent football staff as our pass coverage probably caused a lot pain on our fan base.

How many of these QBs could have been a starter and played QB at a P4 ----Aguilar and ?

Just from a talent perspective Robbie Price, Edwards, Burchette, and a couple others likely would have as well. All of them either got a shot in the NFL or showed the physical tools and were good enough to get a look. Zac Thomas was not a NFL caliber player but I bet he would have gotten some low level P4 offers to enter the portal if we had it in 2019.
