Where do they play? What field?

The field is over at State Farm and where XC runs. You can park right by the field but, personally I would not as I would be afraid of an errant ball hitting my car. Park a bit down the hill and get some exercise. But basically go to State Farm parking, then keep driving part the large field park all the parking and drive up the hill a bit at the end of the road.

Just like soccer, football, and baseball, App field hockey plays in the prettiest setting of any venue in D1.

It is a nice view of the surrounding hills and mountains around State Farm area. When the leaves change it will be all the better.

With a wife who played and three daughters in the sport since the oldest was in 3rd grade ('26, '28, and '30 grad years), I know this from first-hand experience. Between just taking them to games when they were young, to various club and showcase tournaments, to going through ID camps and college visits now for a second daughter with a whole different set of target schools than the first one had, I think I have been to over 25% of all the D1 field hockey venues and a number of D2 and D3 as well. There are nicer facilities, but none have a better setting. They are usually just crammed into a random corner of campus. JMU's stadium next to a Wal Mart parking lot.

Two MAC teams in the polls. Clearly losing to a better team did not hurt JMU much.

There is actually 3 MAC teams this week. New full member UMass has been in the poll all year. It is nice to see that JMU did not drop out after the App loss.

I have been saying for years over on the Sun Belt board that if the SBC were to have enough schools to sponsor field hockey (or maybe co-sponsor with CUSA), it would be one of the better hockey conferences.

The JMU field hockey stadium isn't near the railroad tracks that runs through the middle of campus. Instead, it is on the opposite of the interstate highway that runs through the middle of campus. It does have a different type of track surrounding it though - the running kind.
