Re: Birmingham Bowl
Most of these lower bowls subtract any unsold tickets from the team allotment and we have to cover travel costs. The SBC pools bowl revenue for distribution as well. Not sure how the league will handle this game.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 10:08 pmI mean isn’t there automatically a payout for playing in a bowl? Probably at least a million.

$1.37M from google! Seems high. Hope that’s true, we need it!diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 10:08 pmI mean isn’t there automatically a payout for playing in a bowl? Probably at least a million.

Re: Birmingham Bowl
Sounds right… This is easily the highest profile bowl we have been in. Birmingham Bowl has a tie-in with AAC/SEC/ACC. (Of note what I just saw is that amount was 2023 payout).hapapp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 10:18 pmNot verified but someone elsewhere said $1.4311neers wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 10:14 pmIf we get $1M then this was a no brainer! JMU bringing in $4M to SBC from CFP and us/Stink bringing in right around $3M.

There may be opt outs like any team. An opportunity to let some young guys get playing time.

Let’s face it. We are in a rebuild mode so 12 additional practices and a game against somebody other than your teammates will help our progress. Gotta take a gift when you can.

Re: Birmingham Bowl
My understanding is that they had enough buy in from the players to have a team to play, which would be a conditional factor.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 10:32 pmThere may be opt outs like any team. An opportunity to let some young guys get playing time.

That's really cool. Proud of those guys. Maybe we do have more TIGMAs than we realized.

I don’t think the rivalries and TIGMA matter to that group, but it’s a chance to pad their resume and play in the only game that day on the mothership.
But, will DLo let them???
