What if that team is good enough to make the playoff the next year?
Womp. Womp.

I was specifically thinking about ND when I said an opt-out should include a ban the following year, not the handful of 5-7 schools ahead of us in the APR.

You wanna go home and cry because you didn't make the playoffs?? You get an extra year to think about how badly the committee hurt your little feelings.

If you dont finish the regular season bowl-eligible, you shouldn't be penalized for mothballing your locker room and transitioning to off-season mode.
Why?
Integrity of the game?

Because actions should have consequences? Acting like a petulant child shouldn't be rewarded.

RaleighApp, I agree on a conference championship trophy having great worth, value and meaning to players. But I was particularly referring to an essentially meaningless bowl trophy. Not much worth in today’s athletic landscape. Except the opponent is GSU and beating them would mean more to me as a fan than the trophy that represents the win. But is that how the players feel? Didn’t look like it the first half of the previous game. Like about all posters on here, I despise GSU. I hate ‘em.

So teams pull out of bowls. Corporate sponsors quit putting advertisement dollars into bowl games and find other avenues to advertise. Bowl games decrease. Is this where it’s going?

Actually a bunch of schools turned down bowl bids. I don't understand why it should be a requirement.

Dowell was on the Josh Graham Show today. Said if we had to play in a Walmart parking lot, we'd do it. Said he called 4-5 seniors before accepting and they were all for playing.
Dowell Loggains was fired up; if the App fans are as excited as he is this is going to be an epic game in the Deeper than Hate rivalry.

Exactly. Why should anyone be forced to participate? Schools have different reasons for why they decline. We are only in a game because many schools declined.

It is kind of a requirement for SBC because we begged ESPN to create bowls for us.
