Anderson is sneaky good. He isn't built of the more popular mold today, but he has many of the tools you want a primary back to have. If I'm Clark, I am handing the keys to Castle to let him establish the run this season and use the other 2 as change of pace or match up dependent guys.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 9:36 amPlease don’t take this the wrong way. Again, great young man, love his effort and he certainly isn’t without talent. He was our only bright spot last night.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Sloan
This. Die hard Clark supporters are too quick to shift blame elsewhere. College coaches hold the keys and drive the car. They recruit the players, they build the schemes, they staff their coaches. There is no GM. College coaching encompasses all of it. I love Clark as a man but I get tired of seeing the same issues year after year. I think this new landscape is too much for him. But I was OK running things back with Joey this year and seeing how it goes and there are still many games ahead.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 9:52 amGetting talent is a huge part of coaching. How many P4 and G5 would have taken the same ass whipping we got?

Re: Sloan
Grouping last night's Clemson on a level with all P4 programs isn't the right analysis. Wake, Cal, Virginia, Duke, Auburn, Northwestern, etc are not at that level (and may be equals in many aspects, NIL aside). A ranked State team lost by 41 last night. Colorado would have had the same result that we had last night. Clemson played mistake free football. We played sub-par. If that happens, then you'll get the result you had last night.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 10:23 amSo what are universities like App who have so much of their identity wrapped up in football going to do? If the p4 programs are that much better than us then I never want to play another P4 opponent. Getting beat that bad is awful for the program and those young men on our team. Do we pull the G5 away from the P4 and just play within our “league” ? Do we go back to FCS? I know it was one game but if this is what the future looks like I’m not sure I want any part of it. I’m not sure what G5 football looks like without the P4 games.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 9:55 amThis goes back to a post I made in another thread, but where’s the money going to come from to get that talent? On the flip side, Notre Dame (5th ranked and supposedly at Clemson's talent level) lost to a MAC team with an NIL obtained starting QB. So, it's not just talent level. It's execution.
If you go back and watch Klubnik's TD passes (why would you want to?) there is no pass rush and he's throwing from a perfect pocket. Out secondary is out of position or jumping on the wrong receiver and you see the results. Back to the topic, it's Sloan's job to create some type of scheme/execution that takes away the offense's primary options and puts them in crisis mode. We allowed Clemson to execute at a very high level and they didn't make mistakes with their opportunity to do so.
And for any G5 success in the playoffs as a lower seed.......

We looked slow Live, but somehow even slower on TV. I wouldn’t want to be in our film room this week.

100% agree. We also ran some two back sets in the first quarter against ETSU. I understand spread principles, but I think running 1/3 of our plays with a two-back set with Castle and Roberts could really open up the running game (and also create some big plays for Kanye in the passing game)appstatealum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 10:56 amAnderson is sneaky good. I hope last night was an aberration but I fear it wasn't. It also makes me wonder Just how scary is Georgia and could they beat the Panthers.

No question. An NFL team is stacked with the best of the best from the college ranks. Georgia's O line would get mauled by Derrick Brown aloneBlack Saturday wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 11:41 amfwiw, a few years ago it was said Alabama, when they were at their zenith would be a 3 TD underdog to the worst NFL team at that time and if i recall correctly it was the Bengals.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 10:52 amGeorgia would get smoked by the Panthers. No doubt, truth is the reason the young man is playing is because he wants it more. I want to know why AJ Howard, the DBs coach, got moved from the field to the booth for this game. Seems like something was wrong vs ETSU and that was an attempt to remedy it.

Agreed. I would throw out both and go by the next 10 as the indicator whether our offense or defense is good.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 5:00 pmI think we can throw out the first 2 games as any performance indicators since our opponents were skewed worst to best.
