The reason I went to the Foundation to get the fund # set up was to prevent things like you refer to and things like the attempt by our former AD to take the Dugout Club money that was donated for Baseball and put it in the general Athletics Dept account. This will not affect what items Coach Mike can budget for and won't replace or subtract from his overall budget. Coach Jones should have used the Foundation fund # that was already there for ASU Baseball for people to donate to instead of going through the Athletic dept with the Club. Gladly that effort died when CC left.scatman77 wrote:FIremoose:
The funds for S and C are a tremendous asset to the athletic programs' success because as you stated quicker/faster/stronger in the SBC is an absolute necessity. I'm very thankful that y'all got this started. When the alumni have a chance to invest in the student athlete's efforts it makes us stake-holders that much more, above and beyond the Yosef Club contributions.
I agree that as long as there is a need in the S and C program we keep this Club open. I just hope the powers that be don't look at this as a replacement for their yearly budget. It it tantamount that they know this is a designated fund and that budgeted items should NOT be affected!
GIVE 'EM HELL, APPS!
I'm glad to put my full efforts into helping other projects that might come up and other areas that people might want to donate to. And Scat, since you mentioned athletic training, they have a fund number already through the Foundation (992808).
Just a reminder to everyone that S & C was one of the only areas on campus, not just the athletic department, that didn't have a fund # to designate to. This was one of the main reasons we did this and one of the reasons I want everyone to remember S & C in the future. Although we started this with a set goal in mind the secondary consideration was also to set it up to keep giving to one of the most important areas any university can have as far as athletics are concerned. We just want people to keep S & C in mind when they need some deductions or have a few dollars they would like to add to help.
There are no set dollar amounts, no points, no status perks for giving more. Just helping one of the most vital departments to any athletic department. On this board alone we have listed over 4,200 members. Taking out the fans from other schools and people like that, even if every member just gave $5.00 a year that's over $20,000.00 for S & C. That's just an example and I know that everyone won't do that but even an extra $5,000 or so each year would help the program immensely. And we can do that for a few others areas as well. $20.00 a year split between 4 different areas could do wonders for them all. It doesn't take much to make a difference if everyone joins in. And ten or twenty dollars won't take away from the Yosef Club for those who give to them as well. That's the whole reason for the "lot to give a little" instead of the "few having to give a lot" approach.
