Please would one of you guys who constantly beats to death the same mantra about how much talent we have please please show the proof. We have a really good quarterback and some decent running backs. We have a couple good receivers (1 really good). We apparently don’t have that Bell Cow back because we rotate them constantly. Tight ends pretty good but seldom used. I’ve been of the opinion that most G5 offensive linemen are generally too slow as physically they are as big as most P4 linemen. An inch and 20 pounds isn’t a drastic difference. We are small on defense and simply don’t have depth. Defensive backs are either slow or can’t adjust. Who is our green dot on defense?

I’ve said this many times- it’s going to be nearly impossible to get that coveted token CFP playoff spot. The best G5 has to probably (not always but usually) beat a good P4, navigate and maybe only lose one conference game and then beat the second best team for a championship before taking on the 5th best team. We are already beat up and not half way through the season.

This is the least talented FBS in the App State era.... maybe except year 1 in 2014.

This team has zero talent (and Joey is just a good SBC level player he isn't a P5 talent) and with recent flooding I think the whole program is wiped out, some things were not in Clark's control, I don't know if you blame NIL or transfer limitations on admissions but nonetheless the results on the field aren't showing up.

Didn't build on end of 2023 momentum. That is the disheartening thing, Clark isn't mean enough to be a good HC.

I think he gets another year, given all that’s happened, but you go for the hungry, young, coach who will leave when he builds back a winner.

If we win 5 or less he is gone for sure and if we go 6-5 he still might be gone.

Clark is a great dude and ambassador for App State, but he's clearly not the guy to lead our program to a level we expect and are accustomed to. This program has fallen below mediocrity in the Sunbelt, which is not acceptable. We are not well coached and have average, at best, talent. We are getting lapped by other programs we previously would have laughed at. Change must happen soon, or we may fall into eternal irrelevance. Feels earlily similar to where ECU is at. Good history, excellent support and facilities but a program in a tailspin that has become irrelevant. Been a fan since stepping foot on campus in 1989, embarrassed by what the program has become.

Agree with you. I am just saying that I think we have to win 5 or less for them to move on from him with the buyout right now. I did not say that is how I feel about it personally. That is just what I am hearing from those who I know have connections with BOT members.

Positives - They didn't quit
Negatives too many to list.Condensed version below.
-We are slow. Our best receivers can't get open and our defense can't pursue.
- Joey gets a lot of pressure a lot. O Line can't get any push. Zone runs appear to have left the playbook or we are executing them so badly I can't recognize them.
-Other teams defenses seem to know exactly what plays we will run. It seems to take heroic efforts by individuals for something good to happen.
-Defense is just bad. Can't get off blocks, can't seal the edge, too slow for effective pursuit, saw some bad pursuit angles again tonight. No push from the line and no disruptive penetration.
-Our lines on both sides get pushed around.

Seriously this defense reminds me of the Brown to Beasley years. Score 40-50 a game and lose.
At this point, not really sure if all of this is the coaching. Small, slow and not very strong. One can argue that is on the coaches too. Smaller schools with less facilities and budgets are whipping us. Three of the worst losses in recent memory.

I could understand if we were rebuilding but we were expected by everyone to be better and win the conference. I am losing hope.

I am still trying to figure out what " everyone" was basing that on.

And if a lineman in particular never really played at a P4 what is used to assess his ability? Surely not high school game film. We have had a few good players plucked from the portal but we also apparently have some who simply aren’t good enough.

This season became a joke last Thursday and it’s the gift that keeps on giving at this point. I Had a lot going on today and didn’t watch the game live but had the ESPN updates pinging. Saw the halftime score and laughed and then saw the final at 1am and thought it was going to be worse IMO. There is a problem and it started in 2020
