National TV/packed stadium and the sideline wasn’t energized. Watch the other G5 mid week games. Coming off a break, coaching staff should have had the team ready to run through a wall and had some wrinkles in the game plan.

Energy and sideline reactions are often overplayed in importance. We’ve had players jumping around on our opponents sideline for years and it amounted to nothing. Recruiting, Development, Strength training, Execution and Gameplanning are far more important to winning.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:08 pmGS and CC both played emotional and they beat us. Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I’m not so much talking about the guys on the sidelines. I’m talking about intensity on the field. I agree with everything else you’re pointing out, especially the strength training, but if 2 good athletes are facing each other the difference many times is simply who wants it the most. I’m not talking about who has the best TD or sack dance. Wanting to win is an emotional mind set. Refusing to quit is an emotional mind set. Being the best requires players to have certain emotions during practice and games. Football is a gladiator sport, not a business transaction.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:16 pmEnergy and sideline reactions are often overplayed in importance. In today’s new NIL world, the one area where we stand out is an incredible student crowd and solid alumni crowd that fills more seats (and a hillside) then they leave empty.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:16 pmIt didn't on Thursday!WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:40 pmIs that good?JTApps1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:29 pmI think you're seeing the difference between an NFL business like mindset and the more emotional/energetic college mindset.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:56 pmHere’s the Devil’s advocate response to that. Players should love playing in that atmosphere (vs. at GaSt or ODU or Charlotte or even Marshall)
Perhaps the “business approach” should be saved for the road.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I don't believe that it is. There are a number of things that go into winning on the college level. An emotional/ energetic college mindset is one of them.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:40 pmIs that good?JTApps1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:29 pmI think you're seeing the difference between an NFL business like mindset and the more emotional/energetic college mindset.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:56 pmHere’s the Devil’s advocate response to that. Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I think the emotional mindset is different from a fan perspective versus players perspective. Yes, fans should be loud, feel the extra emotion or chill in the area so to speak.
Players jumping up and down on sidelines doesn't really mean anything to me as it is probably backups doing most of the jumping.
Personally, I try to look at reactions to great plays, great hits, great catches, etc. and team reactions. It seems the team is together. I see congrats and celebrations on big plays.
With that said, it appears that the new staff is setting a new standard and expectations. Whether those standards and expectations are correct, time will tell. During transitions like this, the old guard of players may have issues with this.. and couple this with potentially other players friends being asked to leave the team....may have short term impacts in the locker room.
We talk about 50 new players coming into the fold. Those players came in out of necessity. AND after many players had made decisions to go to other teams given how late a coach was named.
It will be interesting to see how DLo and team performs with an entire recruiting cycle.

I agree with this. He will now have a full cycle so I think we need to see how the team looks next year to judge it better.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 8:27 amI think the emotional mindset is different from a fan perspective versus players perspective. Definitely the crowd is a selling point, but how long is it sustainable in current environment of L’s stacking up and prices continuing to increase? Definitely the last few years paying more for a lesser product.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:52 pmIn today’s new NIL world, the one area where we stand out is an incredible student crowd and solid alumni crowd that fills more seats (and a hillside) then they leave empty.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:16 pmIt didn't on Thursday!WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:40 pmIs that good?JTApps1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:29 pmI think you're seeing the difference between an NFL business like mindset and the more emotional/energetic college mindset.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:56 pm

What high school?ASUTodd wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 7:12 am100% on this. If there is no improvement next season then I say there's and issue. Clark left at 5-6. There were players on that team that should have been gone before the season started. They got kept around so the overall record wouldn't be as bad as it could have been. This year we are 4-5. That's with a complete overhaul, first year head coach, injuries, and kicking some players to the curb. We are so used to winning and looking down at other schools we forgot what it's like to be the one picked on and beaten down. Humble pie has a way of wearing on the patience. With that said ...patience is the key. I think Coach Dlo figures this out. My first year moving up and coaching high school level soccer players ended with us losing all of our games (been coaching for a decade or more yet hadn't moved to that level). This year (3 years later) we won the championship of our league. That first year sucked big time and parents weren't real happy. The second year we went .500 and made the playoffs but got knocked out.....but those that stuck it out reaped the benefits this year.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 6:31 amPrevious coach inherited a Corvette. Then weeding out players not living to the standard depleted even more on D.
He should be given time.
It is going to take time unless the staff gets nil money for D1 level OL, DL and secondary.
